MICKEY MANTLE AUTHENTIC EXEMPLARS... READ ALL ABOUT IT!

I just wanted to post these here to see what Fudd the Lowly Mantle Collector can do to help stop the flood of forgeries into the market place. The goal is that we can all start educating ourselves before we buy. To see what a beautiful signature the Mick had, and to learn to distinguish it from the obvious forgeries at first glance. Something TTA, STAT, DREW MAX, GAI GLOBAL (Baker certs) My Favorite Players Reborn (Tony Podsada) & Christopher Morales can't seem to do....at all? You will almost never see a signature in this photo album collection that would match or come close to anything that has been certed by any of those guys. Maybe you'll find 1 in a 1000 if you're lucky. To tell the difference between what an original hand signed Photo by the Mick looks like vs. an obvious Fake at first glance is easy. Give it a try. It's Fun!

As has been told many times, The Mick made more in one signing than his dad did in 1 year. He felt obligated to his fans to give them a "work of art". He did this by signing on just the right spot for the particular photograph he was presented. The size of his signature was determined by how big the sweet spot was. He knew EXACTLY how to fit his signature in so it looked perfect. A thing of beauty really. Please note that these are not all the same signature over and over, but merely a sample from my collection. What I do know is that these are consistent with the WAY Mantle signed and structured his Autograph as we know it. Good luck! FUDD

DAMN ZIPPER...I have seen those dual signed Mantle Dickey's before...wow...those are quite rare and I have seen them for $800 the lowest...I am really sorry to hear that

Here is 3 authentic examples of how Mantles auto has changed over the years from the 50's to the 90's...as you can see there very different...but as we all know the bottom version is the one the forgers try to replicate as the other 2 versions are not as popular but are sort after and carry a premium most of the time due to the rarity of those 2 styles...all authentic versions

Thank you so much for all of your input, advice, and education !! I definitely have peace of mind now and won't worry about getting that piece of paper unless I have to down the road. Cee Gee, if I ever have to let it go you will be the first one I contact. However, I hope that never happens. Apparently I paid a little more than I should have, but I'm just thrilled it's the real deal and that I have something that I've wanted for a very long time. It's absurd that these crooks make it so difficult to enjoy such a fun hobby, but thank goodness you guys and others like you are out there to help !! It's truly appreciated.

The top Zipper photo has 8.5 out of 10 FUDD stars. I don't like that the tip of the "n" is not pointed. From what I can see of the pic in general, I like where the signature is penned on the photo. I like the slant of the "tle". I would like to see more ink daub in the M's, though there is a slight amount. True the 1/2 moons skip a bit, but I have seen what I think are legitimate sigs show similarly.

The second Zipper gets about 5 out of 10 fudd stars. looks like it might be slowly drawn. same problem with the "n". don't really like the "Ma" interaction. Don't like the baseline of the "tle" & I don't like where the pic is signed. The top one, I might buy, the second one I'm definately not buying. Like I said...If it's not getting a full 10 Stars on the Fudd-o-meter, I'm not a buyer. I am not an authenticator either.

Keep in mind, the ones I shout from the highest mountain top that they are forgeries have nothing in common with those 2. Like I said, those get ZERO STARS on the Fudd-o-meter.

@ Fuddjcal...You truly broke those signatures down like a true pro...every thing you said is dead on with your break down and there good points all around...and your explanations are all absolutely correct....I will say those may be the best forged "M"s on the first example I have ever seen...unfortunately if the forgers keep it up collectors will have a lot to loose....

FUDD says this regarding my second susp[ect Mantle:

I don't like where the pic is signed.

Curious why you wouldn't like the placement? Evenly placed acrosss his chest seems like where the Mick would have signed.  ???

Hey Fuddjcal....I am thinking on your scale from 1-10 stars these would be in the -10 range...these are some of the worst attempts of a Mantle auto I have ever seen

Here is the real deal....really love this Mantle right here...what a great piece

"I don't like where the pic is signed.

It doesn't take up the entire "sweet spot of the jersey", so it would not recieve a "Fudd Star"for "Placement". I think he would take up the entire sweet spot of that photo, knowing exactly how to fit it perfectly. noice the 1/2" or better gap of white on the left? You get a Fudd Star when the signature matches the sweet spot.

The 5 forgeries below are some of the worst examples out there and they all get "ZERO" out of 10 FUDD Stars!!!!!

As for the "1956" real Mccoy, that's a beaut!!!

Notice the "M" in Mickey takes up the entire jersey, leaving no gap on the left and fitting his signature perfectly in the spot he intended. This real example would get 1 (one) Fudd Star for "placement". The signature itself is a FUDD **10*** STAR example on the Fudd-o-Meter and one I would be looking to buy.
