I would like to hear from buyers as well as sellers. Is eBay's Global Shipping Program hurting business? As a buyer do you avoid purchasing from sellers who use eBay's Global Shipping?
I do totally. We all care what we pay. I would imagine that Autograph World uses a separate insurance provider since they are a high volume dealer. It makes sense to stick with low cost shippers as long as they sell genuine signatures.
You are, in a way, supporting the idea that the cost of Global Shipping at eBay is high and detrimental to sales.
Thanks Rob, your input is valuable.
I also have had a number of international buyers decide not to pay when they get that invoice from eBay. This ties up inventory and filing an unpaid buyer case to get credit for selling fees. Not good for the buyer or seller!
That is interesting, Joe. Thankfully, I have not encountered that problem yet but can see where that would influence my listing practices.
Isn't it amazing that when a buyer raises any issue, ebay/paypal immediately hits the seller's account, without even making any contact, but if the problem is in the other direction, it takes forever for us to get our money back from ebay.
doesn't effect the seller only the buyer who eventuly ebay will remove
I don't sell that much on eBay, but have used the Global Shipping program and have found it to be very convenient. You just get the item to the Global Shipping Center in Erlanger, KY and you don't have to worry about requests for low declared values, missing packages, etc. I lost maybe one sale from a buyer who wanted a lower price to account for the GSP fees, but otherwise it has been fine. I had one buyer claim that he never received the item, and I explained that it was shipped from eBay's Global Shipping Center. He filed a claim anyway, which was immediately closed by eBay.
I agree with your points, Mark. Global Shipping is the most convenient and safest method for sellers. I don't think eBay excessively charges for the service either. But, it's those darn import fees that are tacked on by the destination countries that put buyers in orbit.
See its actually 2 fees the buyer pays that's the issue. Not that there high. He pays ur shipping to Kentucky then the global to him. Also overseas people shipping to America is cheaper than we can. I had a item sent to me it cost about 2 5$ through global to get to me in the states . It was fake I asked to return it. No problem. But in order to ship back it would cost the seller 75$ to return the package. He declined. He issued a refund
And that's not mine or ours problem. that's the law. And I'm not losing my item over a cheap person.
I sell a little bit on Ebay and will NEVER use their Global shipping.
