What do you all think about this Paul McCartney signed magazine?  It’s a signed copy of the fan club publication, Club Sandwich from 1993.

It comes with an LOA from RR Enterprises and Bob Eaton.

Neither of these are easy authentications but I think both are real.

The first one is worth noting. It's signed "Paul MccCartney": there are 3 Cs. That's an example of the importance of balancing atypical characteristics with the autograph as a whole.

Look for core characteristics of a signer's handwriting: things you see in much of their known genuine writing no matter what the character.

If atypical letter uses and formations have those characteristics, there's a good chance that the autograph is real.

If an autograph has accepted letter uses and formations but the core characteristics are not what you expect to see in their writing, then there's a good chance the autograph is a forgery, no matter how real it looks before you dig deep.

These are not 3 Cs. It's 2 Cs and A (what you call a third "C" is "A" ). This is a classic Paul McCartney autograph (Steve, you may not remember, but you have already told me in the past that it's a beautiful example). Terrier, what do you think about this McCartney?

Steve, if you see here 3 Cs, where exactly do you see the A???

Daniel,

The A is the little bump under the third C. It's usually the little bump under the second C.

I wasn't questioning authenticity in my post. The first thing I said was:

"Neither of these are easy authentications but I think both are real."

My post was about how differently people can sign, and to look for core characteristics of their writing even when letter formations and locations are unusual.

I'm sorry Steve, but you are wrong. All I circled in a black circle is the letter A

Daniel, I dont have any issues with either of the ones you posted.

Terrier, with your permission, I would like to show the members what you said about this signed Kisses On The Bottom CD case. The comment from August was right after I bought it. The comment from October was after I brought it from framing.

The second one I got in person, face to face, so it's definitely real.

Without getting into the details of each letter formation, very simply for me, when I look at the one in the OP, I just don't see Paul signing it.  It looks "off".  When I look at the one addressed "To Johhny", I never once questioned it.  Its fine to do an analysis, but sometimes just looking at the signature in its entirety speaks volumes.

The difference between the two is clearly seen. The left one is authentic. I still think the right one is a fake.

What do you think about the "AR" portion of this one?

I don't like it, but I won't be surprised if it's real. It's not his typical style
