Hello- New member but I’ve got doubts on an autograph I just purchased. I’m open to any feedback or comments on the piece.

Kohl,

Welcome. You'll learn a lot here. Before discussing the characteristics of the autographs, my major concern is that the ball is resurfaced: it has a white coating over it to make it look new, and perhaps hide other signatures. I've never seen a genuine Beatles signed baseball with the coating, or any classic rock ball.

Looks like it was signed today, the ink still looks wet. They may be copied or lasered on but not hand signed

The signature are fakes. Horrible fakes. Besides the wrong penmanship, the other clue might be the pristine nature of the signatures; they appear recently signed. It's always best to research and check with others here before buying. It can save you headaches (a ton of money) down the road.

Not only the wrong penmanship, but the same penmanship. This is the type of multiple signature piece typically produced when the forger thinks he's good enough to forge all the signatures in one fell swoop, without even putting the pen down, instead of forging one, putting the pen down, standing up and walking around the kitchen table a few times before sitting down to practice the next forgery before proceeding. It's horrifically obvious in this case, as it is with most executed in the same manner.

Is that a Babe Ruth League baseball by Wilson??  Those balls were mass produced in the early 90’s for the league..  it looks consistent with ones I actually played with circa 1990..  I don’t think they were around when Lennon was still alive..

Hey Michael- Thanks for the feedback. This was one of my first question marks about the ball. What year did they start producing "babe Ruth League" baseballs by Wilson??? I searched and searched but just couldn't find anything that could date the ball back to 1965. Is there anywhere that you know of I could track down when they started producing these or any information you can share that shines light on the fact they definitely weren't around in 1965? Any help or feedback would be appreciated. Thanks again!

try dating the baseball that's a start

The ball has certainly been "painted." You can see evidence of the white paint on and around the red stitching at the top of the Lennon panel. That in and of itself disqualifies it in my opinion. No need to go any further.

these are obvious forgeries

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, that was one of my first question marks on it. It just seemed too good to be true.

WOW, thanks everyone for the feedback. Keep it coming please. I have over 200 autographs in my collection that I've gotten in person. This is exactly why I try to avoid buying autographs. All my fears have been realized with this piece. I'm crushed.
