Folks, Step back, take a hard look at the ink. I think Etienne is on top of this one. Two of my Bette's in my collection….vintage and early 80's.

For me it is the really off ""vi" connection/creation, apart from the other problematic features I don't recall this kind of "vi". The "i" is also dotted in the wrong spot...

Eric, Are you not a fan of the vintage signature, the early 80's signature, or both, as both are underlined?

Those are fine - I just posted one without an underline at all. I just meant the OP's is incorrectly drawn/placed. It's prescence (or not) is not the problem. It's not like Gleason where if you see a dash after "My Best Wishes" you know you have a problem.

It rang a bell. It's the OP photo from WHALES OF AUGUST from this thread from months ago. Now $750 before tax and shipping.
There's a lot of other "interesting" material being offered by this seller.
