Somewhere I have a card that she signed for me with her real name and the full name of her character, "Thelma 'Trixie' Norton."
She was a real class act to her fans.
Indeed she was. Never expected a hug when I got that IP graph. I used to call her every New Years but did not this time as I read she wasn't well. The Honeymoon lasted 74 years. all told.
She sounded like a very kind lady. So cool you spoke to her on the phone every year!
My best friend just informed me of the news. We played Ralph Kramden and Ed Norton in our high school Variety Show together. I played the part of Ed Norton. I am truly saddened to have learned this. Thank you for posting the discussion, Eric.
It marks the end of classic golden TV, I think. The role was played once by Elaine Stritch who I also met, although she did not remember doing it. After that it was Joyce Randolph. There was Jane Kean, but Joyce Randolph will always be Trixie. Gleason said Randolph was Trixie, just as Meadows was always his Alice. It is very sad news, but 99....
Truly a sad day.
Rest In Peace, Joyce Randolph.
I will always cherish the letters she sent me.
I was another of her fans who was made to feel special through the kindness of this very special lady. Thank you, Joyce Randolph!
Very nice.
