Thank you Scott and Michelle. It happened in the hall, you are right Michelle.

I think it's real. The characteristics of Perkins' autographs from the mid-1950s to mid-1960s are fairly consistent and this looks right for the period.

Thanks Steve. That is what I am seeing.

On a related note, some time ago I finished Tab Hunter's memoir.  He shares a lot about his relationship with Anthony Perkins during the time that they were both under studio contracts as young actors and teen heartthrobs.....Tab with Warner Bros. and Tony with Paramount.  It's a good read and also details well the end of the old studio contract system.

Below is a vintage inscribed and signed 1950s fan magazine page.  It's hard to find something real like this from him actually signed during that era.  I'd personally advise taking similar care with his 50s autographs as with Tony Perkins.  Maybe even more so.  Those secretaries were usually very good at what they were paid for doing to promote the studio investments!

OK. Then how is this explained?

The OP, another posted period photo and a letter to his father from 1982, Why and how would Perkins own writing of individual words match the supposed secretarial 22 years later? Look at the construction and spacing, the "a's" and the "w's" and the "w" to "a" connection, and the "y".

And this - 1976 letter to his wife and the OP:

Look at the construction that starts the same and the "E's" and the ending upswing alongside the OP. Again, why and how would Perkins own writing of individual letters match the supposed secretarial again, now it is 15 years later? I believe the conclusion is obvious.  This the same hand in these images. Gabe at Schubertiade also believes the OP as he is selling several right now.

You have yet to address any of this Eddy.

You said the vintage Richard Burton was done by a manager and that is why I proved it to be genuine in that 4 part heavily detailed and illustrated signature study which was well received. Not a single member called anything secretarial. And that vintage signature, apart from being in his personal diaries and on checks, contracts and his letters could not possibly be managerial in nature as Philip Burton had left the country and the style continued uninterrupted, with degradation, until his death. I showed what is secretarial and what is forgery.

Eric -

I had forgotten about the Richard Burton discussion.  I just looked back and here's what I actually wrote at the time on your Burton thread about that vintage photo of him:

"I remember seeing some of these over the years.  If I recall correctly, one of the old timers had looked at these and came to a conclusion they were likely signed by a manager."

I also said:

"It's certainly possible that it's the real thing"

That is different than what you are representing me to have said.  If that drove you to "prove" something with so much expended effort and come at me again now with it a few months later....What can I say?

It's really not in anyone's interest for us to engage any further, in my honest opinion.

Again, best of luck :-)

Well, however you word it, the OP is indeed Anthony Perkins hand. Your unwillingness to address any of the evidence is noted.

"Note" whatever you please, Eric.  As Steve Cyrkin said above, members are entitled to their own opinions and they are welcome to have them.

Here's my honest opinion.....stated more directly.  I feel what you are selling on eBay is a secretarial example as were the same style ones that the Written Word Autographs auctioned at one point.  I think those quite low Written Word price results reflect that as a reality.  I stated that I had one similar as well and I sold it as secretarial for $15.  If it was me, I would take advantage of the Gallery of History 10 year guarantee on the one you have and get my money back rather than selling it on to someone else.  I don't see enough "evidence" to sway me from that perspective.  He's not as easy to pin down as some may think. Studio secretaries did a pretty good job oftentimes.  Also, the bad Moseley and Goulliard examples offered earlier above show there have been more deliberate attempts at replicating him.

I don't mean to insult, but that's as clear as I can be. You do not agree and others may not either and that is fine as we are encouraged here to simply be honest about what we see.  We have to do what we are personally comfortable with to enjoy our own collections.

You could address the evidence directly. How are those things possible.? The evidence is overwhelming and rock solid and quadruple verified. Why should, and how could, Perkins hand, words and individual letters and connectors, match personal letters and personal signed photographs that you are calling secretarial after 20+ years?  Address that. The reason those other eyes will not enter this thread, to be honest, its that they don't wish to engage with you.

I said in my last response that I don't mean to insult you.  You just did directly insult me in a public way.  Thanks.

I had no intention to insult you Eddy. You are very touchy. I was telling you why, because it was you who asked me to ask those eyes to enter this thread, I did so as I said in thread, and they will not engage. That is  not my fault. Again, no insult intended. If you felt attacked, then I apologize, Please don't be so sensitive.

When I was doing graduate work, I received a piece of advice from my director.  This is a profession that involves working closely with a broad segment of the public.  She advised to toss anonymous letters of complaint.  It's like trying to engage ghosts.  This underground army of  'eyes' that is  brought up regularly reminds me of that.

I was also advised not to be sucked in by the "people are saying..." trope.   It's only meant to antagonize.

You've admitted yourself on this board that you actively "bait" me (your word).  I'm not biting.
