I'm interested in these vinyls that are supposedly signed by all 4 members (David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, and Michael Anthony). Since I wanted to gift one of these to a huge Van Halen fan, I really do not want them to be fake. It would make me look stupid and I would be devastated/angry...all that good stuff. Okay, so the items in question are:

Women & Children First Vinyl (please ignore that the auction ended) & Van Halen Vinyl & Van Halen II

I know they say to beware of Ebay auctions, but I have no idea where else to find autographs. And who knows, you may find a diamond within all the fakes.

I understand this isn't a certified authentication, but I would very much appreciate your personal or even professional opinions!

Thanks :)

Michael, since you have gotten Eddie on many occasions what do you think of the 1984 piece?  This is obviously a difficult discussion.  I certainly can't decide.  And who exactly is making comments like "always" anyway?  I only see the term "usually" being used in the above posts.

I would say that the 3 items originally posted are questionable at best but the signed vinyl was hard to see clearly. There is a slight chance that the VH II is authentic but I am not 100% sure.

Somebody posted an album that was listed on ioffer and right away the Alex looks odd so based on that if I was buying I would pass.

Hey Mike I didn't see a 1984 album posted (my fav vh album btw).

I'm referring to the photo with Eddie and Dave.  It's the back cover of the 1984 album.  That's the one that I am unsure about.  It may be signed in the same hand.  Thanks Michael.

Ticket stub might be OK but the CD is not. All the signatures in blue marker were done by same person. Look at the angle of attack for all pen strokes. Exactly the same, The David Lee looks bad as well. Might be wrong but I would not bet my savings agains this one. I will be posting several pictures of items that came from band photographer, truck driver and son of a musician who all had access to band during reunion tour in 2007-2008.

Signatures on this item look bad! David is obviously as well as the rest. Give me a break!

Looks like the seller pulled the Van Halen II listing on eBay.

Seems kind of suspicious...

I just looked at the back of 1984 and its a tough call to me. I am not a VH expert by any means but it could have been signed by the same hand. I'm just not 100% sure.

I'll post this one just for the laughs; at least I'm not seriously inquiring about this one guys!!

Let me guess.  It's an in-person autograph of a drunk David Lee Roth signed in 1985 with a blue Sharpie that was purchased more recently.

I like how the seller says he wasn't present on a bunch of the signings, but it's ok because he took them to get a COA. So he's got a product that's supposedly worth money, plus a signature that's worth money, and then he took it to get authenticated, which usually costs more than what he's selling the stuff for. Talk about altruism. He just wants to get you a great autographed item for less than the value of the vinyl at a major loss to himself. I don't get how he stays in business... not

Thanks for all your help guys!! Just an update, I went with a piece sold and certified by The Autograph Source, couldn't chance it on Ebay. Cost around $400, which I find reasonable for a legit item.

The Autograph Source in Aspen, CO is a top notch company. Good choice!
