On December 2, Julien's Auctions is selling The Collection of Tompkins and Bush. The collection contains 465 lots of Michael Jackson memorabilia, 287 of them autographed.

Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson's costume designers for 25 years, during Jackson's most successful period. They were the consignors of the signed Thriller jacket that Julien's sold for $1,800,000 in June 2011.

Almost all of the autographs in the Tompkins and Bush sale are a variation I'm not familiar with. I've only been looking at Jackson's autograph for a few years, though, and we have members here who have collected him for decades, so I'd appreciate your input and exemplars.

If you know Michael Jackson's autograph well, please look at a few images below from the auction and let me know what you think. Even better, browse the auction and upload any similar examples you have: http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/77/

Julien's is the world's premier auction house for Michael Jackson memorabilia, so they would know his autograph better than most of us. I'm just surprised I haven't seen this style before.

Thanks for your help.

Well, it's not just that one buyer we're concerned about. This standee proves that all the other weird autographs in this auctions are forged, so it's a pretty big piece of evidence. If Julien is moving to cover his tracks now it doesn't bode well. He might void the auction and get rid of the standee (and it *is* a standee, it's clearly visible on the catalogue photo) before the police has a chance to investigate. THAT's what's worrying about this.

Remember we're talking fraud worth hundreds of thousands of dollars here.

Again, I agree, but as someone who has been fighting the sellers of forgeries for close to a decade, anytime a buyer can get a refund (even if it's on a technicality), you get one step closer to the entire truth being revealed.

You said it, Chris.

Few of you probably know Chris, but he loudly fought forgeries longer than anyone else I know. He's a real hero.

Steve, I appreciate your comment, but I'm certainly no hero.

The truth will eventually come out on these MJ signatures, but if any of the buyers can get their money back, just do it.  It's rare that a buyer of a forgery gets their money refunded, so if that can be accomplished, don't hesitate.  The "facts" will eventually come out.

Helen,

I could be off, but I added up about $1,444,000 in autographs in the auction...almost one and a half million dollars. And I'm only confident that $869 worth are genuine. Well...is genuine. One autograph.

Wow, crazy money! If that doesn't make the police listen I don't know what will. It's sad and hilarious at the same time that the one authentic autograph in the auction fetched one of the lowest prices...

Of course the highest prices in there were for garments which would have sold for good prices anyway. As a buyer I'm not sure what I'd find worse. Having bought a worthless piece of paper or a beautiful costume with a hideous ink stain on the sleeve...

Michelle where is this interview posted, can i have link plz

The interview is not posted yet, but I guess in correspondences with the admins of the FB page, this came out.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/mjjcollectors This is a closed group, so not sure if you can see it if you are not a member of the group.
