Here's another Mickey Mantle forgery on a bat with a COA from Hollywood & Sports Memorabilia.

I have yet to see any autograph with a COA from Hollywood & Sports Memorabilia that I can say is authentic.

I will repeat.  I have yet to observe one authentic autograph with a worthless COA from Hollywood & Sports Memorabilia.

I rec'd this privately, and thought I would share with you all.  (the underlining is mine)

While this autograph is clearly a forgery, the bat itself does not date to 2011 or later as is claimed in the thread. The 2011 date refers to the MLB Adult 180 Louisville Slugger model. 

This particular bat dates to 1977-79. The center brand proves this time frame. After 1980, Louisville Slugger removed the Hillerich and Bradsby name from the center brand and it only states Louisville Slugger in the center brand on all bats produced since that date.

It appears that one member is filing an alert claiming that the seller knows the bat is a forgery due to the fact that this forum has identified the bat to be produced 16 years after Mantle's death.  That is just not true...

Certainly verify this information for yourself and do with it what you will but I know bats and this one definitely pre-dates Mantle's death by many years.

Again, the autograph is a forgery but the seller can claim he has a certificate of authenticity and the bat was not produced after Mantle's death if he does any research on it.

I have to say Wascher you are the only right one. The bat was not produce in 2011, like all the morons think. The bat was made from 1977-79 only.

Who cares and it's irrelevant.

The Mantle is an awful forgery.  Period.

Ebay removed it once before and you re-listed it.

It is still a forgery.

Why don't you submit it to PSA/DNA or JSA for authentication and when it comes back authentic, you can legitimately call all of us morons.

In fact, post an LOA from either of them with your bat and I will pay double your last buy it now price of $650.

You probably got taken on the bat which is bad for you but why don't you just admit it and quit trying to pawn it off on a novice collector.

Compare your autograph to any JSA or PSA/DNA or UDA autographed Mantle bat on Ebay and you will clearly see that the autograph is vastly different from any authenticated ones. You don't have to be an expert, just use common sense to compare and you will see the difference.

I have a dozen or so bad Mantle autographs I bought when I was a novice in the early 90's but I will never try to sell them to anyone else. It was an expensive lesson but anyone who is honest just eats the loss. 

Do that and you will at least have some self respect.

He (718artwork) probably purchased his Mantle forgery cheap thinking he was going to make a huge profit (listing it on Ebay for $5,000.00) flipping it on Ebay.

Then Ebay removed it and he re-listed at $650.00 hoping to at least recoup his initial outlay.

The people who sell this crap assume that no one is watching Ebay, and then all-of-a-sudden, their auction is exposed here on AML.

He had a '64 Topps Giant Mantle autograph card with a notarized signature and started the auction at $900 with a reserve higher than that. That item is worth about $250 so obviously HE believes his items are worth way more than market value even if they are authentic.

He doesn't sell autographs on Ebay on a regular basis so I think he is just not very knowledgeable on autographs.

Yes, he relisted the bat even though he knew it was bad because he got taken and was trying to get his money back. That cannot be condoned in any way but hopefully he now realizes the error of his ways and will just eat the loss and buy from reputable sources in the future if he purchases any more autographs.

Hopefully, he will use this forum in a positive way going forward.

Ian,

You had no idea the year your bat was manufactured or you would have put it out there earlier.  Don't use my post to brag your "knowledge" up.  I am also not taking the credit for the information, it was sent to me. 

Personally because your bat has a forged signature on it (based on the opinions of those here who know MM sigs), I cringed getting the information.  But because this forum (and MOST of its members) has integrity, it needed to be sent in.
