I got mine today about a half-hour ago.  There was no scan in Washington state.  Just scans in my suburban regional sorting center, my local post office, then the delivery. Given that they were shipped Monday-I think you're overreacting by filing a chargeback in less than 4 days. Especially when you consider it is the week before Christmas.  I will bet however with things like that-they probably won't likely ship big-ticket items like this in the future.

But 2 weeks would be a more appropriate time to file a chargeback IMHO.  At 4 days DURING THE CHRISTMAS SEASON-you're potentially burning a bridge for all of us on future releases. Clearly the Seattle post office screwed up on the origin scans. It's indisputable. But they can't be held responsible for the post office being sketchy about the scans. Mine traveled over 2000 miles before it got scanned.

And to complain about doing it because of "bad behavior"by other booksellers is a copout.  They can't be held accountable for what you perceive to be wrongdoing by other sellers.

Again, if it was 2 weeks after it was shipped and you didn't have it-you'd still have plenty of time to file a chargeback and it'd probably be warranted at that point.  But I'm just going to say it.  Given the situation-the bookstore isn't the one being shady here.

A charge-back is a last resort move if the seller refuses to make things right.

Also, as someone stated, you are punishing one seller for all the perceived stuff going on with all other parties. That's an excuse, a rationalization.

The package was probably insured. If it never showed up then that is the correct route to take.

Four days without a tracking update during the holiday rush? Boo hoo. Cry me a river.  It's not ideal by any means but it isn't the end of the world. And it will happen to a lot of people.

I expect that the seller won't be willing to sell by mail in the future after this nonsense. They don't need the hassle.

I agree. Especially this week, things are crazy at the PO.

A chargeback was impulsive and inappropriate. Why not cancel the order and let them issue a credit?

What if the package shows up with no tracking having been updated? (My guess is he'll consider it a gift.)

Now he wants sympathy for throwing a tantrum. or because he's posting about possibly engaging in a little friendly fraud

I’m confused - who is requesting a chargeback? What am I missing

I went in-store a few days ago, and they said they wouldn't be in until the day before. Yikes!

Just had my delivery estimate from Amazon - 5th to 10th Jan in the UK. Which is fine by be as I’m not at home for a few days over new year.

From B&N email this morning:

Today, Barnes & Noble Members will have access to purchase the Deluxe Signed Edition of Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen's Renegades: Born in the USA. Visit your local B&N and ask a bookseller for details. Quantities are limited to one (1) per customer and are only available while supplies last.

The flagship B&N store in NYC had a total of 3 copies. Good luck everyone!

I managed to get the 1 copy available in store at my local B&N. Was first come, first serve and had to have a membership.

My store in MD got 3. Seller asked if they were holding one for me, which I didn't think was allowed, but there were still two on the shelf. So I got one regardless.
