*****YEAR IN REVIEW 2023: WHAT WERE YOUR TOP GETS? MISSES?*****

Wanted to start by thanking our founder  Steve Cyrkin, Admin for this wonderful site!

I'm up to 65 Friends here, and so appreciate  everybody's contributions in this community to help build our collections in this Autograph hobby we all so love.

As 2023 comes to a close, it's time again for:

*****YEAR IN REVIEW 2023: WHAT WERE YOUR TOP GETS? MISSES?*****

If you all will kindly allow me to go first here's

*****MY TOP GETS: (In no apparent order)

Rod Stewart

Rob Halford (Judas Priest)

The Struts

Geddy Lee (Rush)

Duff McKagen (Guns N Roses)

Def Leppard

Iggy Pop

Shania Twain

Adam Lambert

*****MY MISSES:

None this year, our awesome community shared some incredible finds and I got all the ones that interested me!

Now, I am still looking for a BRIAN MAY. London Stereoscopic has a book for 50 pounds, plus 30 pounds Shipping to Canada...that's almost $140 CAD and I could still get hit with Duty. Hoping Brian will do a solo album in 2024 and pick up a signed Cd for way less than $140!

So...now it's your turn.... 2023: WHAT WERE YOUR TOP GETS? MISSES?

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year...See you in 2024 !!!

These are my favorite for this year. Both limited to 100.

Good heavens, I am up to 331 friends, ALL of whom I treasure, but also fear that I can accurately remember exactly what we have discussed or they collect - I TRY! :-) It keeps me up at night!

But to be serious, this would be this year's best. William Marshall's own 1972 copy of the extended trailer for Blacula in color and stereo, from his son Tariq, along with a vintage signed photograph from 1954 mentioning his first film, also from Tariq. And, the original lobby card below by Phil Segura. In the attached screencap our hero is committing the first vampire suicide on film by walking into sunlight. Note the sign...

I now have my favorite three vampires. Bela Lugosi, William Marshall and Klaus Kinski.

so how did you find the reel?  that is a great find

It was a great year for collecting, but my favorite score came from none other than Bob Odenkirk! Fans of Mr. Show will get it!

Gets: Weird Al, LL Cool J, Devo, Ian McShane (photo), Arnie, Keanu (dogstar), Billy Connolly, Christina Applegate (photo), Method Man (photo), Jamie Lee Curtis, Elizabeth Olsen, Dropkick Murphys, Vincent Donofrio, Michael Caine, James Hetfield, Flava Flav (card), Eddie Furlong (card), James Caan (card), Shaq (card), Jeremy Bulloch (card), david harbour (card), robert kraft (card), val kilmer (batman funko), 2 very smelly rancid posters

I have purchased a lot more, these seem to be the bigger signers. I have a lot of Sport/Non-Sport cards I picked up during the year

misses: Slash (multiple times), a real Lana del rey, Paul Mullin, Sly Stone, a real Millie B-B, many cards on ebay missed

On the to get list for 2024 and beyond: A good Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd, Randy Moss, Alonzo Mourning, mads mikkelsen, michael keaton, ollie palmer, green day (on order hopefully), rdj on order, would like a real kenny chesney, cypress hill

Would like to see Pearl Jam put out something reasonable, Rob Zombie, Weezer, Post Malone, Pumpkins same. One day Garth Brooks will put out something signed I hope.

I'm sure there are more for each category

Nice list  DPsCactus12 . I will keep watch for a Slash for you as he seems to pop up frequently.

I'm hoping to bump into Dan Aykroyd around here so I can get him for Jason H.

If I do I'll try to get one for you too. My Mom helped him pick out blue roses when he was shopping at the local Costco last year, and he's a Summer resident.

Nothing could top scoring an in person Paul McCartney signature last Feb at Yale, but completing my original Modern Lovers LP with Jonathan Richman, Jerry Harrison, and Ernie Brooks, really made my happy, too.

Thanks to this group, I got Geezer Butler, Brian Setzer, Alice Cooper,  Ian Hunter, Joan Baez, Bono, Bryan Ferry, David Byrne, Will Sargent, Dave Davies,  Johnny Marr, Billy Idol, and Patrick Stewart through mail order! And saved big $ from the expertise of members here keeping me from buying a few forgeries. This is a fantastic group and I’m proud to be part of it. Thanks everyone!

Looks like you had a great year Tom B .

I scored an in person Paul McCartney in Montreal Quebec Canada in September 2008, so I can relate to the thrill you felt at Yale. I share your sentiment that nothing may ever top that!

Tom B - that is pretty much the ultimate acquisition at this moment in time. I am not even jealous - just in awe. Much as I appreciate the luck of lottery winners!

On the overall subject, I do not feel that my list would cut much ice on thís forum as they are mostly literary.

But I received the Brian May star-sh#t business today (in 3-D or something) - which I have no actual clue about. But, all I can say about this is that when Frank Zappa was asked to name his favourite guitar players, he said, Carlos Santana and Brian May.

Well, when you get something signed by a person endorsed by Jesus,   you have to be pleased, nest'ce'pas?

I bought Sheer Heart Attack on the day it was released and to this day I cannot forget how blown away I was by "Brighton Rock".

Legend!
