Is this MJ Signed Jersey Legit? UD cert/sticker but Beckett Won’t Pass

Hello! I made an initial purchase on this jersey from a new eBay seller that had recently sold a couple other very similar Jordan jerseys. There were multiple shady things with the sale including the seller having it sold by a different account saying they had reached their sellers limit for the month. This new account had recently sold a typical fake Jordan/Kobe/James USA jersey with some fancy paper COA in a binder ($875). The sale was also just too easy with a low price of $2K. The signature looks off to me and I read a recent article that says scammers have found ways of transferring UD holograms to other jerseys. UD emailed saying it is authentic which is why i decided to buy but the article specifies (G.O.A.T Authentics) that this is not necessarily a solid assurance. Long story short - please let me know your thoughts and opinions thank you!

*Update: UD replied saying the can confirm “hologram BAM23947 As an authentic signed White Michael Jordan jersey signed on May 7th, 2014.“ - there is also only a stock photo listed for this cert in the UD database

Thanks Eric - UD was careful to say that the hologram can be confirmed as authentic. I updated the original post to include this but here is the response from UD

From what you say about the seller I don't understand why you bought it. UD verified the hologram #, not the signature. You say the signature looks off and the seller is full of strange stories. The new account has only sold Jordan and related signed items. I wonder if he hit his category limit selling all these Jordan's if that is even true. I'd get a Jordan collector to look at this fast. This seller has sold Jordan signed jersey's for $415 or so. Is that reasonable?

I agree with you on the purchase decision, I should have done this differently but that’s not really the question at hand. UD requested a photo of the item as well so my assumption was that they took a look at it but I have my doubts at this point. I did get eBay’s confirmation they would accept a return if the seller sends it. I posted this thread to hopefully find a Jordan collector. It seems like an elaborate scam if they did transfer the hologram to a fake jersey but it sounds like it can be done. My hope to get a response in the opinion of the signature, not necessarily a discussion of if it was a risky purchase as I pointed out. I hope you can understand how a new MJ collector can be easily fooled (if it’s fake).

*sigh* I also thought that as well but the option wasn’t there - the seller marked it as shipped but didn’t and didn’t put a tracking number (I’m sure to remove the option to cancel) so I called eBay to get ahead of it and they said they would facilitate the return. I’ll get the money back in some way so I’m not as concerned about that even though it’s annoying- more want to learn about the autograph opinions and if anyone can “confirm” this is a bad item. If it is bad, then another discussion on how not to trust UD stuff is in play. I do appreciate your responses Eric.

I am happy to try and help. There is a member in here who knows Jordan very well - he confirmed my suspicion that another item was a forgery style but I can't remember who it was. :-( I'll try to find him.

I can see that you are active and helpful on the site- great to have people like you and a forum to have unbiased communication free of profiteers. If you could find them that would be great! The more education we can get the better we are in future purchases and helping others! Hopefully some others will weigh as well, thanks!

Thank you. I went through 12 pages of discussions and can't find it. From what I remember and read BAS is supposed to be quite good with Jordan. I will ask Steve Cyrkin to see if he has an opinion.

Hi SeaEls,

This is a poor forgery IMO. That the seller said he had to use a different eBay account because they sold too much for the month is proof positive of a scammer. Why would eBay penalize anyone for selling too much? That's what they want. 

Go right to eBay and file a complaint for fraud. Tell them that Beckett failed it and include the email from them and you should have your money back quickly. In fact, if you gave Beckett the eBay link to authenticate it from, they may have reported it to eBay.
