Mickey Mantle Autographed Baseball Forgery Ebay Seller Hessiant01 NO 7 Inscription

Here's another Mickey Mantle forgery on a baseball found on Ebay.

This Mickey Mantle forgery (with the inscription No 7) is a typical horrific Mickey Mantle forgery.

This Mickey Mantle forgery is listed by Ebay seller Hessiant01.

Mickey Mantle forgeries can be found all over Ebay.

I have to take a guess, Ryan...is it the one on the bottom left?  I have read most of the Mantle threads but I am still quite the amateur with Mickey's signature. This site is the best education tool for autograph collectors on the internet.

Top right?

the top right is another very common Mantle forgery, and it does fool a lot of people, probably moreso than the banana mantle baseballs.

Bottom left is the only authentic.

I had it narrowed down to the top right and bottom left.  The top-right autograph appears to be signed with a brand new blue Sharpie.  It is very narrow.  That had me leaning towards the bottom-left autograph.  Otherwise I was unable to tell the difference.

Is it possible here for everyone to take a deep breath and not assume its Trisha's ball? (yes I know, it started out just like every seller on eBay coming to defend their item---but maybe its not for once)....?  Trisha, are you willing to curb the foul language as well, we don't put up with foul language.

Trisha, post the ball you have questions about--lets see what your item looks like.  If you are "done" and don't want to, then I'll take you off the site.  Let me know what you'd like to do.

I have a private conversation going on with someone, but I will not post on here anymore. I have enough drama in my life. I apologize for my mouth, but I was so offended at being judged and accused right from the get go.

I do believe that there are some decent people on this site, and I will deal with them directly and not comment anymore on these posts. Believe it or not, I am actually an ordained minister, but I grew up in stadiums and arenas, in New York no less, so I have a mouth on me.

I am just as guilty as everyone who attacked me, and I admit that, I fed into the negativity, and I am sorry for that, but people should not assume the bad things all the time. I know that this field is one that you have to assume the worst, but stop and think before you degrade someone. Stop and think about someone's feelings before you post. There was really no reason to be so mean to me. All someone had to do was explain stuff to me. I in no way defended that signature, I was just trying to see what I was missing. I didn't deserve the treatment that I got. And I honestly do believe that there are dealers out there on ebay that are unaware that what they have is a forgery. That is why I suggested messaging them directly. If you get a negative response, then you know. I am sure that there are decent people out there who have no clue and once things are explained to them, they will remove the item in question. Life is not all about money to everyone. There ARE still some decent people in this world that do the right thing! This ball is no longer available for sale on ebay if you look.

Sorry. I'll get off my soap box now. Just trying to see if there is a nicer way of dealing with the forgeries. Guess it's the girl in me. (Or the skank if you ask Rick). ;)

T

And honestly, if you look at the other stuff that dealer has up for sale, it is a mish mosh of stuff. I think it is just someone clearing out an estate, or getting rid of junk, not someone who is trying to purposely sell a forgery. That's just the detective in me! LOL

Probably so trish but Sellers need to be accountable for what they sell and if they are ignorant to what they are selling do not sell it.

Ok, I hope you get the answer you need.  And I apologize that this thread went this way.  It just happens that many of the sellers of forged eBay items come on the list, pretty much exactly how you did, and play a role that they are not the owner, and try to defend it.  Believe it or not, all of the guys in this thread ARE good guys :)

Please stay around for awhile, and you'll understand what just happened and why.  And in the meantime you'll be able to learn about the Mantles and other signatures.

I'm going through and editing some of the language Trisha (and others) so if you get new emails of the same thread coming in its me fixing some of the swearing.

Trisha, all I can tell you is that it takes a long time to learn and study autographs.  It WILL NOT happen overnight.

I learn something new about autographs every day.  It takes a long to time to acquire that trained eye.

Also, we will continue to expose sellers who list and sell forgeries.
