Is this MJ Signed Jersey Legit? UD cert/sticker but Beckett Won’t Pass

Hello! I made an initial purchase on this jersey from a new eBay seller that had recently sold a couple other very similar Jordan jerseys. There were multiple shady things with the sale including the seller having it sold by a different account saying they had reached their sellers limit for the month. This new account had recently sold a typical fake Jordan/Kobe/James USA jersey with some fancy paper COA in a binder ($875). The sale was also just too easy with a low price of $2K. The signature looks off to me and I read a recent article that says scammers have found ways of transferring UD holograms to other jerseys. Here is the article from cllct.com. https://www.cllct.com/sports-collectibles/autographs/why-so-many-mi...

UD emailed saying it is authentic which is why i decided to buy but the article specifies (G.O.A.T Authentics) that this is not necessarily a solid assurance. Long story short - please let me know your thoughts and opinions thank you!

*Update: UD replied saying the can confirm “hologram BAM23947 As an authentic signed White Michael Jordan jersey signed on May 7th, 2014.“ - there is also only a stock photo listed for this cert in the UD database

Thank you so much Steve! I really appreciate the input. I’m already in the process of the return and will be coming here before any other purchases. It’s a shame the scams are this deep and that UD sends emails that don’t confirm the item but just the hologram. I know their system was built from scratch in 92 but it seems like they should have been able to incorporate a detailed database for every item MJ signed considering the $15k price on their site. Lesson learned, thank you!

On the selling limit note - I believe eBay does have a selling limit for new accounts and they had closed two other jerseys a few days earlier (UD also confirmed those but signatures looked similar)

I just googled it and it says there is a limit, sorry. But it doesn't make sense. What I read says $50 limit, total $500/month. Don't know if that's right or not.

In any case, setting up a new account to get past the limit probably violates eBay's terms.

Oh no worries - it’s obvious that it was a shady sale and shouldn’t have been touched regardless of any additional details.

FYI - I reached out to Upper Deck to see if they confirm that the signature was authentic (not just the hologram) and this was their response. I’ll probably never completely trust a UD product without a photo in their database again. I was under the impression a UD confirmation was solid.

Thanks again Steve - are you able to give an opinion on my latest post with two MJ signature? I really appreciate everyone’s input but also am hoping to learn what you are looking for in the autographs. For example there is a great tip (probably a standard but new and very helpful to me) about the Mantles and where to draw the lines with the elevated “tle” - My goal is to be able to look at autographs and make a confident determination (I understand the subjective nature of signatures)

I agree with Beckett on that. Whatever the logistical stuff with the paperwork, this was not signed by MJ.

Upper Deck is only saying that registration number is legitimate in their system. They aren't necessarily authenticating that particular signature. I believe someone kept the original jersey and applied a fake hologram to this jersey, and paired it with the original COA.

Thanks again!

This is a forgery.  The problem with them saying that the hologram and number on it are legit, it that it can be removed from a legit jersey/signature and placed on a forgery.  UDA can only state that the original signed jersey they sold was good, they have no idea what has happened to the hologram or what it is currently attached to.
