Today's mail brought me the autographs of Juan Bereneguer, Michael Fitzmaurice, and James Flemming.

Juan Berenguer was a pitcher for several major league ball clubs, most notable for the 1984 World Series champion Detroit Tigers, the 1987 World Series Minnesota Twins, and the 1991 National League champion Atlanta Braves.

Michael Fitzmaurice is a 1973 recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor. On March 23, 1971, Mr. Fitzmaurice was in a bunker with 3 other soliders at Khe Sanh in Vietnam. A group of enemy forces attacked them, throwing 3 explosives in the bunker. Mr. Ftizmaurice grabbed 2 of them and hurled them out of the bunker. There was not enough time to grab the third one, so Mr. Fitzmaurice took off his flap jacket, covered the explosive, and layed on top of it. When the explosive went off, Mr. Fitzmaurice was wounded badly, and partially blinded. He had saved the lives of those in the bunker with him, and refusing medical evacuation, continued to fight with his bare hands to enemy forces that were advancing on his group. A remarkable story of courage.

James Flemming was a 1970 recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor. Mr. Flemming was flying a helicopter mission on November 26, 1968, near Duc Co in Vietnam, aiding a 6-man reconnaissance team. With one helicopter in his group already shot down, and the first attempt at rescue ending in failure, Mr. Flemming went back anyway and landed on the edge of a river bank with the tail of the helicopter hanging over the water. Facing a barrage of intense enemy gun fire, Mr. Flemming kept his position anyway, rescuing all 6 members of the reconn team. Amazing story from a true national hero.

Awesome week of autographs.  Received: "Sweet" Lou Whitaker, Joe Dumars, Ozzie Newsome, Eric Church, Brad Paisley, and Peyton Manning.  I owe Ryan a huge Thank You on the Manning success.  I was stoked today when I received it.

Got 2 more former Braves in the mail today. First was Tommy Hanson. Tommy is with the Angels now, and is going to have a great year with a fresh start. We'll miss him for sure. Then I got Rafael Belliard. There is no way we win the 1995 World Series without Rafael filling in at shortstop for an injured Jeff Blauser. His defense was flawless, and his perfect execution of a suicide squeeze won Game 1 and set the tone for the Braves that series. As the Tigers current infield coach, he has helped mold and shape that team into a World Series contender. Plus, check out that NICE shoe print on the Belliard return envelope! I had to pay my postman extra for that. :)
