Remember in the end of “The Sting” how Robert Redford is going to be paid for the big sting they just did, and with a sly smile on his face he refuses the money saying, “Nah, I’ll just blow it anyway.”
I’d be the same way if I won a million dollars, because...I’d immediately bid on this item for Kruse GWS Auctions. It’s a flaming red Hagstrom Viking II guitar. It’s the same axe that Elvis Presley played during his…Continue
Elvis Presley’s first Las Vegas contract is up for auction. I thought about blogging that story, but I’m so burned out on Elvis items. Instead, as a movie critic, I thought I’d do a couple movie related things.Continue
One of my favorite movies is “Casablanca.” So I was thrilled when a friend, upon hearing this, said, “I have a barstool from that movie. I bought it from a company selling Hollywood movie memorabilia for charity.”
She said she paid $50 for it, and it’s just sitting in storage. She said she’d give it to me, and...I’ve brought it up…Continue
I’m a movie critic. I love films. I’m also an autograph collector, that loves memorabilia. Movie memorabilia is my favorite. I own a few interesting things from movies, my favorite being one of the toga outfits from (no, not Animal House), the brilliant Albert Brooks movie Defending Your…Continue
I had a few movie related autograph things I was going to mention. The first was about the Harrison Ford Star Wars jacket he autographed and sold for charity. Yet I saw that somebody on this site wrote about that.
So, a few autograph things in recent movies.
In an indie movie called "High-Rise" Tom Hiddleston plays a guy that moves into a high rise that has…Continue

As a hardcore racquetball player, and lover of music memorabilia, I was interested in the item that recently sold at an Elvis Presley auction. It was a red, white, and blue shirt Elvis wore when he played racquetball. Many don’t realize he was a huge racquetball fan, and even had courts installed in Graceland (they now serve as the “trophy room”). There was even a time he…Continue
Yet I can only recall, of all the people I know, one wife ever stepping up. It was a friend I have known for 30 years, and his wife knows he loves collecting baseball memorabilia. She…Continue
I am just bored on this Saturday night, so I thought I’d write some random autograph things down and post them.
As a movie critic, I always laugh when there are autograph scenes in movies. Many times, they’re done poorly. The most recent one I saw was in the film “The Identical,” which is a fictional story about the twin Elvis Presley had (he died at birth), but they…Continue
It’s strange how people get when it comes to collectables. Just today, I heard that the gold medal Jesse Owens won in the Berlin Olympics in 1936 (talk about a big F-U to Hitler), is on the auction blocks. He apparently gave it to Bill “Mr. Bojangles” Robinson. If I were rich, I’d pay millions for it (it’s currently around $200,000); easily one of the coolest pieces of sports…Continue
