My Autograph Collection: Sell or not to sell..............perhaps you can advise me.

I am at a thought crossing in my autograph collection: to sellor not to sell. Let me explain.

I love collecting autographs and always will. However, collecting has been a huge expense for me over the last several years. With so many fantastic autograph conventions across the country, in store signings, artists appeareing at so many local clubs, there has been a rebirth of my collecting. In other words, these last 5 or so years have been more fruitful and successful, than the last 15 years in my collecting. However, do I really need 7 fully signed "Hotel California" albums and over 40 Elton John signatures?

I am at this time "entertaining" the idea of possibly selling off some of my collection in order to build it even better. Again, the key word is "entertaining" the idea. This is an area that is not especially known to me, thus I ask for your opinions, ideas and thoughts as I continue to give this some very serious thought. Needless to say anything inscribed to me would not be for sale, however that still leaves about a good 35%+ of items I have that are not inscribed that would comprise what I may (again, "may") consider selling. By selling off some of my stuff I could then reinvest back into my collection thus building it even bigger than it all ready is. Just a thought.

I would welcome your thoughts, opinions, and words of advice. You can visit my collection at or email me at

Unless it is something I love, I always sell or trade my doubles to get a autograph I don't have. I guess if you collect for investment purposes you should keep everything that will increase in value.

I would surely be interested in buying one of your signed records by all seven Eagles :-)

Thank you for all the feedback. Many of you emailed me and offered so much very vaulable tips and information. I am entertaining offers on any of my non inscribed items from my collection. I feel this is the only financial way to actually build my collection and improve my website. Please email me at if interested.

Readers, I too have lost my job and things are a bit tough. Here is your chance to score on many of my autographs from my website. Some say FOR SALE some say NOT FOR SALE. Some have prices and some don't. Having said that, I will entertain ALL OFFERS if you are interested in any REAL in person obtained autographs. It happens...............
