My Times With Chris Cornell

These are the types of blogs I hate to write. When somebody dies that I’m a fan of. No, no...not Roger Ailes. That guy was scum. Chris Cornell -- the incredible voice behind the grunge band Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, and Audioslave (that’s the one band I wasn’t a big fan of).…

A Great Gift and a Great Frustration -- The Springsteen and Spade Edition

These are two topics I’ve brought up before, but different things about those topics.

First, is Bruce Springsteen. I did a blog where I complained about a member here not helping me get his signature when my fiancee and I went to see him in L.A. (he got the Boss, I didn’t; I was on the wrong side of the sports arena when he came in and signed for fans). I liked to think autograph…

Elijah Wood Would...Sign Autographs Even if he Doesn't Want to

One of the great things about the late night shows (aside from the terrific humor of Jimmy Kimmel), is when celebrities tell stories, and talk of signing autographs arises.

The other night, Elijah Wood was on one of the shows. He said, “I just hate signing autographs. I hate it, but I can’t say no. These people come up to me, and I know they’re going to just sell these things, but I…

Autographs on Late Shows -- Stephen Colbert with Donald Trump, Jimmy Kimmel with James Taylor

A few of the late night shows have had autograph things lately, so I thought I’d write about them.

Stephen Colbert, the newest guy to take over on a late night show (The Late Show, formerly with Letterman), had Donald Trump as a guest. Colbert, who dropped his Republican wind-bag character he…

Comic Con and Late Night Television Autographs

As a member of the press, I usually get free tickets to Comic Con and I report on the various autograph things going on. The last two years I haven’t gone.

A few of my friends did report a few autograph things to me. One said if you wanted Hulk Hogan’s autograph and a picture, it would cost you…

What Would You Rather Have in Your Collection -- Willie Nelson's Armadillo or Hitler's Uniform?

I was all prepared to write the latest blog on this guy here in San Diego (well, Solana Beach) that keeps popping up in the news. Last time, it was for selling Hitler’s desk. This time it’s Hitler’s uniform (shirt, hat, medals), as well as stationery and other items. He bought these from a Long Beach collector for $1 million, and hopes to make over $3.5 million. You can go to HistoryHunter.com if you’re interested.

I decided not to write a big piece on that, because I did the story…

Washington Redskins Didn't Sign Autographs -- Fan took to You Tube (and Jimmy Kimmel)

As a kid that grew up playing sports, my favorite autographs to get were the athletes. Yet it was always so hard. After Padres games we’d wait by the tunnels, and you’d be lucky if one or two came over. I remember when Steve Garvey left the Dodgers and came over, he was a good signer. He was also doing appearances at sports stores often, and always very nice.

I remember a neighbor got a ticket stub signed by future Hall of Famers Ozzie Smith and Dave Winfield. I ended up trading him a…

Autographed Baseball Blog -- A funny late night show and 4th of July

Late night talk shows are the perfect place to hear autograph stories. You see, the talk show hosts and the stars, get sick of just coming on and promoting their latest movie and telling the same stories about what it was like to work with Meryl Streep.

Last night on The Tonight Show (which…

Celtics Star Rajon Rondo on Jimmy Kimmel

Jimmy Kimmel is the best late night host working today. His monologues are great, his interview style, and sense of humor.

Last year during the NBA Finals, he had shows that aired immediately after the games. One of the things he did was using an NBA star (I’m almost positive it was Shaq), to prank fans that…

Late Night with...Autographs!

Last week on the late night shows, the big news was that Saturday Night Live’s head writer, Seth Myers, would be taking over Jimmy Fallons slot when he moves over to The Tonight Show next year.

Well, what I enjoyed about the shows last week was all the talk about autographs.

Kimmel was talking about how ridiculous it was that Dennis Rodman sent a tweet asking North Korea’s leader a favor. This, of course, after Rodman went there and was hanging out with…
