So, my girlfriend was in a store getting a new cell phone. I'm not even sure I should call it a cell phone. It's an "i" something or other. It's basically a computer, camera, and about 20 other things all of which are attached to the cell phone.
Anyone else remember when phones were stuck on a wall at the house, and you had to dial phone numbers and wait for the round thing to come all the way around before dialing the next number? It made you hate phone numbers with 8 and 9 in them.… Continue

So, in Torrey Pines here in San Diego, the big golf tournament is attracting lots of attention. Mostly because, it's the first time Tiger Woods hasn't played in it. And also, Phil Mickelson, considered the best golfer behind Tiger, is a local San Diego boy.
There have been pictures of him signing hats, shirts, photos, and golf balls.
But this story caught my eye.
They were going to auction off a windbreaker autographed by Tiger Woods. The starting bid was… Continue

The few autograph things of the day I found interesting.
The Lakers were visiting President Obama in the White House. This is one of the perks you get for winning a sports championship.
The craziest photo was seeing one of the dopey Kardashian girls getting to shake hands with the Prez. Oh, the perks of being a reality show idiot, but marrying a Laker (poor Lamar Odom).
One of the usual photos had the President holding a Lakers jersey with his name on the back.… Continue

Enthused as a young child collecting comic books and signed baseball cards, I have spent the last twenty years collecting autographed golf balls. I claim to have one of the largest private collections of signed balls in the U.S. I have written a book that offers a firsthand account of my passion for seeking signatures on more than 230 golf balls. The title of my book is Hooked on Autographs. In my hobby memoir, I introduce readers to the behind-the-scenes excitement of tracking down celebrities… Continue

I'm not a big fan of Fallon, but he has a few things that work. One of his bits is when a joke bombs (was anyone better than Carson? he'd hit the microphone to make sure it was on, or he'd look to the side with that weird facial expression...)
Well, Fallon takes the cue card with the joke on it, and gives it to an audience member. I have to assume that some of the audience members that have received these, get them autographed later. I know I'd try to do that.
Anyway, his joke… Continue

David Stone here, writing to you from the great city of New York! Living here, there are so many opportunities to collect in person. Therfore, I take great advantage of autograph conventions, Broadway stage doors, TV shows, and more! Autograph recently hired me to write articles for them about these experiences and more-look for my first piece in March! I am also hoping to become a dealer myself, and I will be starting to conduct mail-in signings soon. Who are YOU all… Continue

All the late night fighting has really gotten interesting. Although, I find I'm watching Conan and missing some of Letterman because of it (after all, Conan only has another show to go before it's all over).
Well, I tuned in to Letterman during a commercial on The Tonight Show, and Dave was telling Harrison Ford how nice it was to sign autographs for the fans waiting to get into the show. Ford had an uncomfortable look on his face (but really, when doesn't he?) He then said, after a… Continue

The following images show many of Mark's current signature variations. These items were signed for me in-person during the 2009 season and 2010 Pre-season. Use this guide to help you determine authenticity of items you are considering to purchase.…

Jeff Bridges will definitely get the Oscar nomination for playing the drunken country singer Bad Blake in Crazy Heart. He's flat out amazing. It'll be his 5th nomination, and I'm hoping he wins for this.
Anyway, his character is relegated to playing dive bars and bowling alleys, while his young protege (played by Colin Farell, who my girlfriend thought looked like a country version of George Michaels), is playing the huge stadiums.
When they meet up for the first time in a… Continue

What are you favorite items to get signed by the drivers? Or, better yet, what are the best things to get signed? I'm not interested in selling them, but I just wonder what items the rest of you get autographs on. I know it is a personal preference......
I have nearly all of the fan cards (Hero cards) from each driver, which I personally like getting, but I'm also getting official drivers hats and having them signed by the said driver. I have a generic cap that I am also trying to… Continue

The morning of February 8th, 2006 I was assigned to videotape the 2nd Annual International Emergency Medicine Conference
which took place in the huge event space at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital located at Columbia University Medical Center. It featured five medical professionals who were involved in a variety of international emergency medical care situations throughout the world – in Darfur, Pakistan, Africa and Iraq after the U.S. invaded it -… Continue

I don't know the details of this story. I just heard it mentioned the other day on the news.
I guess I could Google and find out easily enough. But ya know what? I didn't want to do that. Not because I'm lazy (well, okay...that's part of it). The reason is, I'm afraid I'll be so angry after reading the details.
You see, he settled with one of those annoying paparazzi photographers. You know, like the one that Lindsay Lohen just hit with her car, and will probably also get… Continue

I just heard that a man with a stolen Monet has been caught. Good ol' fingerprints.
He cut it from a frame a museum 10 years ago, and replaced it with a painting done on cardboard. That sounds so absolutely bizarre, I'd just love to see the replacement. Did it look similar to the Monet? Or was it just a big yellow smiley face or something?
This reminds me of a story I heard in LA a week ago, and all autograph collectors that have purchased bogus signatures can… Continue

I would like to know about everyones experiences on items that celebs will not sign or pens that celbs will not sign with. For instance Chad smith (drummer for red hot chili peppers and chickenfoot) the nicest guy in the world if you hand him a black sharpie but if you hand him blue he totally changes. Also Cher I have seen her walk over to a person start to sign and see it is a blue sharpie and turn around and walk away. Or like Eddie Van Halen will not sign anything already signed by Sammy… Continue

Pacers Fan Jam- Had a full-size signature basketball which i was having the team sign. Eventually I had all of the Pacers except Travis Diener, Jeff Foster, Tyler Hansbrough, Dahntay Jones, and Earl Watson. The event was free so it was really worth coming to!
I also went to a few individual signings where I got TJ Ford, Danny Granger, Mike Dunleavy, and Troy Murphy all again.
Pacers/Clippers- Ended up with Rasual Butler, Steve Novak, and Baron Davis signing a… Continue

This is something that really grinds my gears... people selling Reprints and Preprints. I like surfing through eBay to look for certain autographed items to add to my collection, but it seems for every 1 real autograph, there are 10-20 Reprints or Preprints as well. Now, I could see a reprint of say, George Washington. Heck, I don't even mind reprints if they are a very nice autograph, but to have reprints of fake autographs is disgusting. To me, that is like saying that they know the autograph… Continue

The following listing http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360224284919
shows an auction that is one of MANY NASCAR forgeries that the seller has listed now.
Now, it should be easy for the folks here to see how bad the actual NASCAR autographs are ( not sure about the other items )
The real issue though is the blind Letter of Authenticity by JSA. If you read the letter, it… Continue

I am sad to say that the creator of the famous GUMBY , Art Clokey has passed at 88 yrs old.

Maybe this has been happening for a long time, but I've just recently noticed it. People are having celebrities sign a blank sheet of photo paper, then they take this signed photo paper and print a picture on it. They are then selling the photos as signed. However, I think this destroys the integrity of the autograph as the picture is printed OVER the autograph. Here's some pics:…
