Nascar autographed items - What is the best item to get signed?

What are you favorite items to get signed by the drivers? Or, better yet, what are the best things to get signed? I'm not interested in selling them, but I just wonder what items the rest of you get autographs on. I know it is a personal preference......

I have nearly all of the fan cards (Hero cards) from each driver, which I personally like getting, but I'm also getting official drivers hats and having them signed by the said driver. I have a generic cap that I am also trying to… Continue

Gerard Butler Lawsuit

I don't know the details of this story. I just heard it mentioned the other day on the news.

I guess I could Google and find out easily enough. But ya know what? I didn't want to do that. Not because I'm lazy (well, okay...that's part of it). The reason is, I'm afraid I'll be so angry after reading the details.

You see, he settled with one of those annoying paparazzi photographers. You know, like the one that Lindsay Lohen just hit with her car, and will probably also get… Continue

Paintings

I just heard that a man with a stolen Monet has been caught. Good ol' fingerprints.

He cut it from a frame a museum 10 years ago, and replaced it with a painting done on cardboard. That sounds so absolutely bizarre, I'd just love to see the replacement. Did it look similar to the Monet? Or was it just a big yellow smiley face or something?

This reminds me of a story I heard in LA a week ago, and all autograph collectors that have purchased bogus signatures can… Continue

Signing Habits of Celebrities!

I would like to know about everyones experiences on items that celebs will not sign or pens that celbs will not sign with. For instance Chad smith (drummer for red hot chili peppers and chickenfoot) the nicest guy in the world if you hand him a black sharpie but if you hand him blue he totally changes. Also Cher I have seen her walk over to a person start to sign and see it is a blue sharpie and turn around and walk away. Or like Eddie Van Halen will not sign anything already signed by Sammy… Continue

Successes so far this year

Pacers Fan Jam- Had a full-size signature basketball which i was having the team sign. Eventually I had all of the Pacers except Travis Diener, Jeff Foster, Tyler Hansbrough, Dahntay Jones, and Earl Watson. The event was free so it was really worth coming to!

I also went to a few individual signings where I got TJ Ford, Danny Granger, Mike Dunleavy, and Troy Murphy all again.

Pacers/Clippers- Ended up with Rasual Butler, Steve Novak, and Baron Davis signing a… Continue

What do you think about REPRINTS and PREPRINTS?

This is something that really grinds my gears... people selling Reprints and Preprints. I like surfing through eBay to look for certain autographed items to add to my collection, but it seems for every 1 real autograph, there are 10-20 Reprints or Preprints as well. Now, I could see a reprint of say, George Washington. Heck, I don't even mind reprints if they are a very nice autograph, but to have reprints of fake autographs is disgusting. To me, that is like saying that they know the autograph… Continue

Interestimg ebay situation about a LOA

The following listing http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360224284919 shows an auction that is one of MANY NASCAR forgeries that the seller has listed now.

Now, it should be easy for the folks here to see how bad the actual NASCAR autographs are ( not sure about the other items )

The real issue though is the blind Letter of Authenticity by JSA. If you read the letter, it… Continue

R.I.P Art Clokey....creator of GUMBY

I am sad to say that the creator of the famous GUMBY , Art Clokey has passed at 88 yrs old.

That is one autograph I never did get. I grew up with Gumby and all those wacky characters as a kid!

Here is one of I am sure, many links to his obit!…

This REALLY disturbs me....What are your thoughts?

Maybe this has been happening for a long time, but I've just recently noticed it. People are having celebrities sign a blank sheet of photo paper, then they take this signed photo paper and print a picture on it. They are then selling the photos as signed. However, I think this destroys the integrity of the autograph as the picture is printed OVER the autograph. Here's some pics:…

Expensive Auction Items

A friend sent me a link to this today. I assumed the high end auction items would be airplanes, rare cars, and maybe a Picasso or two. It was a lot more diverse. And, since they are "collectables", thought I'd slap the link on here.

Enjoy.

Randy Quaid arrest for 10,000 dollar hotel bill

I just read this but supposedly Mr. Quaid and his wife stiffed a hotel in texas for a hotel bill. Hopefully their is a simple explanation or maybe he just would not sign any autographs at the hotel for any of the guests or the help at the hotel? May be Chevy Chase was to pay the bill?

James Cameron on TMZ: Think Again

Sometimes the media jumps on stories without asking enough questions.

Yesterday, Christmas Eve, was one of those days.

The lead video on TMZ's Web site was an airport encounter with a so-called fan and James Cameron. The "fan" had an "Avatar" poster he asked Cameron to sign. Cameron refused and the guy got pushy. Not like an adoring fan asking again for an autograph. Not even like an aggressive professional autograph runner—unless he was the dumbest one in the world.… Continue

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE!!!

I thought I would leave a Sci-Fi type X-mas pic since I am a Sci-Fi Guy!
Thanks to the magazine for allowing me to be a part time writer, and readers for reading the mag, and all my Sci-FI Scene columns since 2005. I hope to include more sci-fi conventions and interviews within the magazine in 2010! Peace.

NASCAR: Driver Autograph Holograms....THE TRUTH!!!

Many people have either heard about, seen, or own signed Jeff Gordon & Dale Earnhardt Jr. autographed items that include the individual driver's numbered hologram.

These Holograms were designed for the drivers as a way for fans to know that they have purchased authentic signatures. However, there are some very strong misconceptions regarding these holograms. I hope to clear these issues up with this blog post.

1st, Let's look at the holograms on signed 1/24 scale… Continue

Which NASCAR driver do YOU want to see a signature study done for first?

The initial list of drivers for the first Study is

-Jeff Gordon
-Darrell Waltrip
-Dale Earnhardt Sr.
-Dale Earnhardt Jr.
-Jimmie Johnson

reply to this blog with which driver you want to see signatures of . I will count the votes in a week and then start the study for an upcoming blog.

I want the NASCAR section to be in tune with the pulse of the hobby.

Autographed Quilt Featured on "Pawn Stars"

For those who aren't familiar with "Pawn Stars," it's a show on the History Channel about a family who owns and operates a pawn shop in Vegas. I'd seen ads for it now and then while channel surfing, and at first glance, it looked like yet another crummy reality show featuring a dysfunctional group of people trying to run a business while fighting with each other. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover the show is more like "Antiques Roadshow," where customers with an eclectic array of… Continue
