Film Great Tony Curtis Passed Away on 09/29/10. R.I.P.

This is a sad day not only did we lose a great actor but also a great person. I had the pleasure of talking with Tony on the phone a while back and we were working out the details of getting together when my wife and I make a trip to Las Vegas after Christmas this year. I was hoping he would be able to make it to our vow renewal ceremony. But this is not to be but I will always treasure that phone conversation with Tony and I wish the family well and I know it's going to be very difficult times.

Robert Plant: Knowing the "where" and the "when" just might save you from being ripped off.

In the December 2009 issue of AUTOGRAPH, Roger Epperson wrote what I consider to be the BEST article to date of the authenticity of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham's signatures.

Led Zeppelin is one of rocks most requested bands, most collected…

The rumors circulating autograph hobby are true. Since 2008, the New York Office of the FBI has been investigating Florida-based autograph and memorabilia gallery chain American Royal Arts and its owner, Jerry Gladstone, over the suspected trafficking in rock and roll forgeries. According to marketing claims by Gladstone, American Royal Arts was the world's largest seller of signed music memorabilia, specializing autographs of the Beatles, Elvis, The Rolling…

Questionable Autographs are Everywhere

I am seeing very questionable autographs on non eBay auction sites.

These are general auctions sites that sell jewelry, appliances, TVs, etc.

The auctions sites do not have a clue what is being done with autographs on their sites.

The prices that these autographs are auctioned at are startlingly low.

It seems that eBay sellers are buying these autographs on these…

An absolute BONANZA of autograph conventions to choose from.

All this talk about fake signatures and the crooks that are trying to rip you off, please keep in mind that there is a current BONANZA of autograph conventions being held in the next few months from sea to shining sea. Here is your best defense at fighting forgers that you are not not buying any of their junk, and instead support the artists that are attending the below conventions. Take a look:

Authentication and Forgery Alert: Forgeries, in my opinion, Exposed!!!

In the fight against forgery, authenticators often communicate about skilled forgeries that have hit the market. All of these forgeries originate with the same source. Many of the images are from Steve Grad of PSA/DNA. If anyone else has other examples please post them. Some of these forgeries are very devious even incorporating what would appear to be authentic letterhead or genuine old album pages. The good news is that we failed this material and…

Should Autograph Authenticators sell or Consign Autographs to Auction Houses were they authenticate?

Now here is a fair question to ponder upon. Many on this site will be angry and attack, but yet a fair and important question that needs to be addressed. My answers and reseach will come at the end of the Blog Post.

I am Scott Davidoff.

Growing this hobby, the professional way

As one who has been active in (historical and political) autographs for many years, it amazes me that there has not been a decent influx of young collectors into our hobby. The political scene is giving us constant reminders of our country's history via references to our U.S. Constitution and Founding Fathers. With the diminishing trust in the stock market and people trying to find constructive ways to spend some of their hard earned money, what better avenue than putting just a portion of… Continue

"Coaches Corner" ? Selling at my Local Mall.....

Okay I got out of my office a little early on Thursday because one it was my birthday and the other I had to deliver parts to a couple of companies and I had an appointment with my lawyer.

So I figured I had a little time left to drop by the mall and get some dinner and then walk around. So I notice a lot of collectibles being sold by vendors in the middle of the walkways so I started browsing and all the way at the end I see autographs being sold and at first I was excited…
