just yesterday i bought a 1942 copy of Admiral of the Ocean Sea by Samuel Eliot Morison. inside I found a typed letter on water sealed Harvard University paper. Dated May 17th, 1941. It is written to Bertus H. Wabeke and mentions a Mr. Shipley. I do believe this precedes Wabekes works on Dutch Emmigration. As it does speak of this topic with a dry sharp tongue. It is signed S.E. Morison, and as far as i can match up, the signature seems spot on. Anybody know what I should do with this? or…

I just joined this site as a result of finding articles here regarding a company, or companies? which apparently deals heavily in fraudulent collectibles, Art Of Music/Gallery Of Dreams.
On Christmas Eve, I purchased something in Las Vegas, and it is remarkably similar to something which was asked about on this website earlier this year. The item is a "autographed" drum head, with the Grammy logo on it. Signed by many major artists, including Bruce Springsteen, Garth Brooks, Paul…

So, in the movie THE ARTIST (which is a great film by the way…my review at the end of this)…
There are two autograph scenes. In the beginning, there’s silent film star (played by Jean Dujardin), and he’s hamming it up for a crowd waiting for signatures and photos.
One girl drops her note pad. Her name is Berenice Bejo (she’s gorgeous, although a bit thin for the actresses of that day), and she gets a photo, and ends up becoming a star.
Later,…

I met actor/comedian Kevin Pollock after his performance at the Irvine improve years ago. The weird thing was, I had been at a party in Hollywood earlier that day, with a co-star of his from The Usual Suspects.
We talked for a long time about the many impressions he does, and a few other things. He signed autographs for a handful of fans that came up to ask him.
Well, on the Marc Maron podcast (he’s another funny comedian you should check out if you get the…

Two of the most enjoyable aspects of being an in person autograph collector is, of course meeting the celebrity, but almost equally enjoyable, is all the many fellow collectors that I have met over the years. Those of us who collect, share the frustration, the pain, the worry, the expense, the sacrifice, the joy, the surprise and the passion that autograph collecting brings. Though many celebs are increasingly embracing us as collectors, there are still many that see us as a nuisense and…

I don't know the details or exact price. You can Google. I don't spend as much time writing the stories as I used to when I was paid.
But, an auction of Elizabeth Taylors furniture and other items, included a photo he signed to her. It had an inscription with her full name, and something about him loving her so much. They expected a few thousand dollars for it, and it got in the 6 figures. BAFFLING, as an autographed 8 x 10 of Michael sells for so much less. Now, one thing if it was a…

Last week, a property owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation called me up to repair a couple of framed antique prints that suffered some damage from the earthquake we had a few months back.
The items were donated to them from a prominent collector and were going to be displayed in their museum.
The original framing establishment was well known for framing important works of art. It was located in Georgetown, an affluent section of Washington, DC.
When I…

Okay folks...aside from being one of many taken by Bryan Slaven and Autograph Central years ago, I purchased about 5 albums from a guy from L.A. His name was David Dettman, and he had a company called GENUINE AUTOGRAPH.com
Of course, that's nowhere to be found now. He also worked at a place called Paper Image in Canoga Park, CA. Also nowhere to be found.
I remember when I purchased the albums from him...around $900 each...he was sweating a lot, and super nervous. I should've…

Clem Burke, the long time drummer of the rock band Blondie, indeed kept his word to me about signing autographs. On August 16, 2011, I met Clem while he was in attendance at The Grammy Museum in Los Angeles for the Q&A/Performance of his pal, Nick Lowe. Starting up a conversation with Clem, I indicated to him that I am a collector of autographed memorabilia, and especially collect signed drum heads. He basically asked me, "well then, where is a drum head that I can sign?". Not…

Timothy B. Schmit, bassist of the rock band EAGLES, and a member in that band since replacing Randy Meisner in 1978, actually stopped to sign 2 autographs for me prior to his So. Orange County solo performance at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, on Wednesday November 30, 2011. This very rare obtaining of an in person signature by TBS, was about as rare are rare can get these days as growingly, TBS has increased his "no signing policy" for anyone who he even remotely perceives as…
