Does $40 Purchase Equal $200 Million? The Ansel Adams Story

I cried BS the first time I heard this on the news two days ago.

A guy was at a garage sale, and paid $40 for "glass slides" that he thought were great photos of Yosemite.

He thought they looked like the work of Ansel Adams, so he hired an attorney to "investigate." That lawyer came back saying the experts claimed they were Adams photos.

Immediately, people were saying these "unreleased photos" would be worth $200 million.

I knew it was…

Zac Efron Says....And, Anyone want a Tori Spelling Autograph?

In the Sunday morning paper (Parade section), they had an interview with Zac Efron.

Now, these are interviews I usually skip. I don't care about these young actors talking about Twilight or High School Musical, or getting slimed on Nickelodian.

But I got done playing racquetball, and it was the only section of the paper I hadn't read. The story was about his top 15 things to do in the summer.

He

Pete Rose Signing Autographs

Every time I'm in Las Vegas, I happen to walk by Pete Rose, singing autographs in one of the sports shops in Cesaer's.

There's usually never a crowd (I'm guessing with prices around $50, that's probably why).

Well, he usually also sells his autograph a few doors down from the Hall of Fame museum in Cooperstown, New York, during the induction weekend. This year, he's been absent.

The store he usually works in have been saying that Rose had "prior…

LeBron James Stuff

It was fun watching all the hoopla surrounding where LeBron James was going to wind up (Miami Heat, if you've been living on an island).

It was funnier to read a story about an Ohio woman (which is where James is from), named Vaneisha Robinson, who paid $5 at a yard sale for a LeBron James pendant she thought was costume jewelry.

The news media jumped all over this.

The pendant was shaped like a basketball jersey with a few diamonds in it. She had…

Steve-O the Jackass, Weird Autograph Tattoo

I did a story for Autograph Magazine years ago about people getting musicians to sign their body and then having those things tattooed on them.

Well, I was reading a Spin Magazine from a few months back, and it had a story on Steve-O, one of the crazy dudes from Jack Ass.

He ended up on Dancing with the Stars, and also in a mental hospital. This after drug addiction and crazy behavior got his friends worried.

Anyway, the story was a good read, but…

This is How You Know You're an INSANE Autograph Collector

You heard about this tragic event involving a firefighter on Tuesday, right?

No, he didn't fall of a burning building.

During an Indians/Rangers baseball game, he tried to snag a foul ball and fell over the upper deck railing, and fell 30 feet onto the seats below him (my first question is...when you're at the railing, aren't you aware of how dangerous that can be?)

He injured four fans below him, and broke his ankle and got a skull fracture, but is…

A Real Hitler Autograph

Since there was that blog showing the fake Hitler signed photo, I thought posting this story I saw in the paper the other day, would be interesting.

A prison that held Hitler in 1924 had documented his time behind bars, and sold to an anonymous bidder for $33,400.

It was about 500 documents from Landsberg prison, and found by a man about the possessions of his late father, who had purchased them at a flea market in the 1970s (isn't that always the…

Whose Autograph did Dakota Fanning Get?

I was watching a Jimmy Kimmel Live the other night, and he had a person on that collected grocery store lists. It was actually a hysterical collection, the variety of things people write down on their list of groceries.

He had one list that had all the regular groceries listed, with "pie" written in three times the size. He even had a shoplifters grocery list.

Anyway, young actress Dakota Fanning was the first guest. Somehow, she brought up the only time she's…

Napoleon's Hair Sells -- $13,000

A picture is worth a thousand words...a hair is worth thousands of dollars.

I believe it was Napoleon who came up with the phrase (about the picture, not the hair).

A British soldier stationed with Napoleon Bonaparte on St. Helena, had a number of items he passed down to family members, who recently made $100,000 selling them at an auction.

A sketch of Napoleon on his deathbed -- $14,600.

A diary that had many conversations with…
