RINGO STARR: I am still shaking my head.

At the Hard Rock Cafe in Los Angeles last night (11/2), and in cooperation with the L.A. Food Bank and whyhunger.org, held what was billed as an "All-Star" tribute jam to the music of John Lennon, all the while supporting local and world food banks and keeping the spirit of this mans music alive all for the causes set up by Yoko Ono in the name of her late husband. Edgar Winter, Dave Stewart, Joe Walsh, Ringo Starr, plus "very special guests" where to be there playing, and paying tribute, to…

I Was Invited on the Nate Berkus Show—and Met Matt Dillon at Dinner!

My story starts last Tuesday in the afternoon. I receive an email mail from a website that I use to show some of my movie memorabilia. The email reads like this “My name is Jessica and I am the producer on the Nate Berkus show and I would like to talk to you about a piece of your movie memorabilia would you please call me”. So I am of course taken by surprise so I went ahead and called the…

Sarah Palin Signs an Autograph -- AND BREAKS THE LAW

I was watching an old David Letterman from a few days ago, and he did a joke about Sarah Palin signing an autograph in Reno.

Someone had a flag they wanted her to sign. She glaldy obliged.

The only problem is -- there's a law that states you can't write on the flag (like we expected her to know that...hehehehhe).

Lettermans joke concluded with her apology. Which she typed up on a flag.

Is John Lennon Still Signing Autographs in Southern California?

His was a time before eBay, so John Lennon wasn't that jaded about signing autographs—if you could get to him. But few fans carried records around to be signed back then, so any album signed by Lennon since the early '60s is rare.

But not at Forever Legends, an autograph dealer in suburban Los Angeles. While Beatles experts might not be able to count up 10 Lennon signed Imagine albums, Forever Legends has had at least 23 on their website from 2007 to…

Jenny McCarthy on Autographs at Book Signings

So, Jimmy Kimmel (the funniest late night show host) had Jenny McCarthy on the other night. I'm not a big fan of hers. She's hot, yes...just not as funny and clever as she thinks she is.

Well, her book is #3 on the New York Times Best Seller list, and she's on the shows talking about it and doing various book signings.

She talked about creepy 50 year old guys with their hair slicked back, drooling over her at signings and then following her back to the hotel (I…

Justin Timberlake Asks for An Autograph on TV

I never watch Jay Leno, because he's really not that funny or good at what he does; but Dave Letterman has been repeats all week.

Well, Justin Timberlake was promoting Social Network (a great movie, if you haven't seen it yet). Leno set him up, getting him to talk about the Lakers and how they'd go all the way and win it all. He then brought out Chris Bosh of the Miami Heat (the team that recently won the LeBron James Sweepstakes).

Bosh gave him a jersey, and…

Two Funny Autograph Stories -- White House Crasher and NFL Crashers

You know those goofballs that crashed a dinner at the White House? I think the woman ended up getting a spot on Real Housewifes of D.C., but I'm not positive. They got some kind of of reality show out of it. Well, there was a story about how on eBay, they were selling 100 photos of them autographed, for $100 each. None of them sold. The price was lowered to $50. None sold.

When the price was lowered again, they ended up selling 11!

It's nice to know autograph collectors…

Johnny Depp -- NICE GUY STRIKES AGAIN

In Autograph Magazine’s Top signers list, Johnny Depp usually makes it to the top 10. We’ve heard reports of him signing at a stop sign in his car, commenting that he’d leave if another car came up behind him.…

Is autograph collecting going the way of the 8-track tape?

Will we see Abraham Lincoln signed commissions sell for $1000 one day?

Lately, I have noticed people selling off their collections they have enjoyed for years. I have also noticed very few people entering the field. Since my interest lies with early historical and political, I can only speak for this area. But I can bet that other fields, like modern entertainment, are suffering even more, especially with the negative publicity of… Continue

Fun Stories -- David Letterman/Bruce Willis and a Documentary

I saw a great documentary at a film festival the other day. It’s called Teenage Paparazzo. It’s a must see for autograph fans.

Even though it deals with the paparazzi that hounds the stars, you not only see lots of autographs,…

TOM PETTY autographs for sale on Ebay

Year after year I see Tom Petty signatures for sell on Ebay, and/or people email me examples that they want to purchase and/or examples of what they all ready purchased and/or asking if I will sell any of mine. Whatever the answers are/were, I see these 2 signed albums currently on Ebay that in my opinion, look really good and really consistant with the in person sigs that I have. I am not saying these are the read deal, but I am saying Tom is a tough cookie to obtain, and can sign anything…

You gotta be kidding

I am suggesting that for those of us who wish to participate, that we post some of the most ridiculous, silly, absurd autographs that we find on eBay. For legal reasons, I am NOT saying that these items mentioned are non-authentic, just totally preposterous. Each of us can draw our own conclusion.

My contribution is not only hilarious, but it also backed by a forensic handwriting examiner, who graded it a '10'. Let me begin the hit parade:…

A Tsunami of ???? Autographs on eBay

The number of questionable autographs of Mickey Mantle and Ted Williams on ebay has reached epidemic proportions.

There are also a good number of Sandy Koufax and Joe DiMaggio questionable autographs on ebay.

Beware those with Nicholas Burczyk COA's. I have yet to find one of those COA's that I agree with. Despite my posts on various places including my own blog on my website, nobody has been able to prove to me that Mr Burczyk actually ever authenticated a baseball…

Buying and Selling at Auction—A Primer Part I

By way of introduction, I'm Bill Panagopulos, founder and president of Alexander Autographs, Inc., an autograph auction house in Stamford, Ct. (www.alexautographs.com) established almost twenty years ago when I took my passion for collecting Civil War autographs and decided to grow it into an auction house devoted to the sale of all types of historic letters, documents, manuscripts and relics. Since those early days of paper bid sheets, one telephone… Continue
