Getting Autographs Will Get Harder -- Just ask Scottie Pippen and Halle Berry

(Stay away from Halle you paparazzi or I unload on every one of you!!!)

Two things happened in the news the last two days, that can affect all of the autograph collectors. Let’s examine these things, shall we?

Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry went to the Capitol on Tuedsay, testifying in favor of a bill aimed at restricting paparazzi from taking…

Signed Stevie Ray Vaughan from Antiquities—How can this be?

Hi there,

I purchased a SRV signed 1989 Fender Stratocaster guitar from Antiquities. When I received it, it came with no COAs. I contacted Antiquities and a requested the Forensic Documents that they told me all of items have.  They sent me the documents and behold no forensics, just a COA and a letter of provenance dated after the date I purchased the guitar. mmmmm. I…

Whose autograph is this?

I was going through old boxes of stuff and I found this, it's a laminated piece of paper with what appears to be an autograph. It was with my brothers stuff and he used to really like baseball. I can't figure out who it is, or if it is even a baseball player. Anyone have any ideas?…

Autographed Baseball Blog -- A funny late night show and 4th of July

Late night talk shows are the perfect place to hear autograph stories. You see, the talk show hosts and the stars, get sick of just coming on and promoting their latest movie and telling the same stories about what it was like to work with Meryl Streep.

Last night on The Tonight Show (which I watched only because Letterman and Kimmel were repeats), comedian and…

Celtics Star Rajon Rondo on Jimmy Kimmel

Jimmy Kimmel is the best late night host working today. His monologues are great, his interview style, and sense of humor.

Last year during the NBA Finals, he had shows that aired immediately after the games. One of the things he did was using an NBA star (I’m almost positive it was Shaq), to prank fans that were lined up for a fake autograph session Kimmel had…

The Kinks Kronicles -- The Work in Trying to Meet one of my Favorite Bands

I went from being a DJ at a classic rock station, to being a writer. One of the first editors I had had to keep reminded me that when I talk about bands, others won’t know the songs or musicians the way I do. So before I start this story on my quest to get all of The Kinks signatures, here’s a list of their songs that you might know: Lola, You Really Got Me, Tired of…

President Lincoln -- The Oldest Known Document

I always like when things pop up that celebrities did when they were young. A lot of Buddy Holly’s homework has popped up over the years. I’ve also seen homework from a few other celebrities, but since Buddy Holly had that geeky look with the thick glasses – and since he was a 50s singer – something seemed more interesting about a piece of school work from him.

And since we’ve all seen lots of drawings, doodles, and paintings from famous folks, there’s something so intriguing about…

Jackie Robinson and Mickey Mantle Items

A couple of baseball items that were just auctioned off that sound rather interesting. A baseball glove that Jackie Robinson wore in the 1955 and 1956 World Series fetched $373,000 at the Steiner Sports Memorabilia Auction. The same seller also parted with a Louisville Slugger bat which was used in the 1956 season. That went for $114,000. The same buyer purchased both items, but didn’t identify himself. It’s probably safe to say, if burglars break into his place – he won’t be hitting them…

RIP Jean Stapleton

Jean Stapleton, All in the Family star who played as Edith Bunker died today.  She was 90 years old.

NEW YORK (AP) — Jean Stapleton, the stage-trained character actress who played Archie Bunker's far better half, the sweetly naive Edith, in TV's groundbreaking 1970s comedy "All in the Family,"…

Meeting Matt Bonner -- as told to Jay Mohr

Jay Mohr does the best sports on the air. If you’re a sports fan, and you can get him in your city, tune in.

The first time I saw Mohr was on Saturday Night Live. He did great impersonations (Christopher Walken, Joe Pesci, etc); even though in the book Live from New York, he makes it sound like he wasn’t so successful on that show.

He’s always great…

A few video celebrity interviews from my archives- or Markives as it were!

Hello fellow autograph collectors and genre Con goers.

Here is a link to a few, maybe about 90 some interviews I have have done in the long past and more recently.

I will attend quite a few more Conventions/ Autograph shows, this year.

Many people have asked to see some of these interviews and not just read some excerpts from them.

I have literally hundreds and hundreds of these from the past almost 30 years of doing this.

But at this time , I only have…

New way to collect autographs

Autographgiving.com is a new way to collect autographs and benefit charities at the same time. Using a Autographgiving Collectors Card the card owner gives money to a charity to receive the card. Do you think athletes will be more likely to sign these?

Buyers Beware of The Mick/Don Mattingly "Signed" Photo

I get sick of seeing eBay sellers post this as being "signed" when in reality it is a reprint. I myself actually got burned on this in the past.

Here is the "signed" photo to be cautious of:

As you can see below, this is the exact same "reproduction" as above, yet this seller calls it an "Autograph"…

Jimmie/Jimmy Johnson autographed 8th grade yearbook

So I am originally from ElCajon California and recently my dad, who is a NASCAR fan, came to visit. He said the Jimmie Johnson boy me and my sister used to hang out with who raced dirt bikes and had all those HUGE trophies in 8th grade was the same guy who drives for NASCAR. Today I found my junior high year book with his pic and an autograph..Just wondering why the…

The Doors -- Autograph adventures and thoughts on my favorite band, in memory of Ray Manzarek

Ray Manzarek, the keyboardist of The Doors died the other day. As journalists that thought they were clever wrote, he “broke on through to the other side.”

Since they’ve always been my favorite band, I thought I’d do a story for Autograph relating to all my meetings with the various band members.

I had been a Doors fan from an early age. When I was…

The Beatles Blog -- handwritten lyrics and guitars

I was reading a newspaper in San Diego and saw the most beautiful picture in the world. No, it wasn’t a sunrise over the beautiful beaches in La Jolla. It wasn’t one of those double rainbows some freak out over. It was the handwritten lyrics to the great Beatles song She Said, She Said from the Revolver album. It included a few lines that didn’t make it into the song, and some words crossed out. All of it in John Lennon’s writing! That song, along with the lyrics to In My…
