Ethan Hawke -- A Class Act

Ethan Hawke is an actor I've always admired. Even in movies I didn't care for -- Training Day (which got him an Oscar nomination), Sinister, and Reality Bites (he does rock the Violent Femmes, though) -- his performances in those films is solid stuff.

I thought Boyhood was good, but overrated. Yet his…

San Diego International Film Festival -- Partying with Annette Bening and Warren Beatty

I’ve told autograph collectors before, that going to film festivals is the way to go. Obviously, not everyone lives nearby the big ones. Yet if you check the ones nearest to you, you’ll often be surprised by the guests they get.

At the San Diego Film…

Ashes to Ashes -- A Blog about Autographs and...celebrity Ashes

When I sat down to write a blog, I felt it should be about golfing legend Arnold Palmer. He was great at signing autographs, and other golfers have even said they started signing more, after seeing Palmer stand there for an hour. Palmer wanted to make sure each fan got a signature that wanted…

Meeting Angus and other Autograph Exploits

Just before school started, a few big names came to town so I figured I would try to meet them.

First Kevin Bacon came back to Kent with his brother and their band.  I didn't go to the show but I figured I might try to get Kevin on the Footloose soundtrack.  The fans were waiting by the side door by the bus and he actually came out the front door.  He did sign a few on the way to the bus and took some pictures with the primarily female crowd.  I did get his scribble on the album…

An Autograph Joke, An Autographed Presidential Book

I always like a good autograph joke and Conan O’Brien had one the other night on his show. He talked about how Donald Trump once bought an autographed football helmet of Tim Tebow. The punchline was something along the lines of: He is just like one of us. He has a garage full of worthless sports…

Marilyn Monroe Autographs -- And Perhaps the Most Famous Dress in History

A friend of mine introduced me to a buddy of his at a party that had a question about an autograph his father had. I rolled my eyes, asking what he had. It was a baseball signed by Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio!!! Of course, my eyes stopped rolling and popped out of my head. When I meet people at…

RR Auction Lawsuit: No Evidence of Shill Bidding

The judge rejected Michael Johnson's fourth attempt to add shill bidding allegations to his RR Auction lawsuit a few weeks ago. With his attempt to make it a class action lawsuit failing in March 2015 and his attempt to add shill bidding and another claim failing on August 12, Johnson's case heads to trial in January, apparently on his original claims only.…

The Day I Met Gene Wilder (and ran into an old girlfriend)

I wrote about Gene Wilder for Autograph back when you could find it on newsstands. I thought I’d share that story, and a little more, about my one experience with the comedic genius.

Having been born in 1969, my favorite Wilder comedies as a kid were…

Early Bruce Lee multi signed school essays at auction in September

Hi,

I'm new to this forum, I'm a big fan of Bruce Lee, I've just been looking on the RR September auction remarkable rarities preview, I came across by far one of the best Bruce Lee pieces I have seen come on to the market in recent years:

Fully PSA authenticated and with provenance from the Lee family- Bruce Lee’s multi-signed handwritten essays and vocabulary assignments removed from his high school dictation book used while attending St. Francis Xavier’s College in Kowloon…

Auction Items -- the Bonnie & Clyde and Muhammad Ali Edition

I like to write about various auction items that might appeal to the autograph collector, and it seems each week there’s a new one.

A few weeks ago, a number of Muhammad Ali items were listed to come up in auction. The 1974 WBC heavyweight belt, as well as a handwritten letter about his conversion to Islam. That would be an amazing piece, especially if it were signed “Cassius Clay.”…

Autographs People Get For You -- The Warren Beatty Edition

In entertainment news, Jay Z got into a little trouble for pushing a fan that he felt got a little too close to his wife Beyonce. They were in Manhattan at a screening of the boxing movie “Hands of Stone” (side note: I saw it, and it’s pretty good; if you’re a boxing fan, don’t miss it). They’re friend Usher plays Sugar Ray Leonard [side note: Sugar Ray has always been a good autograph signer, often adding a smiley…

Adding Some Music and Football to the Collection

I've been shooting and reviewing concerts for 2 years and it's been great.  Getting to be that close to the stage, even for only 3 songs, is an awesome experience.  Hanging out after the show to try and catch the artists for an autograph is fun and talking with other collectors and hearing great stories makes it worth while, even if you don't always get the autograph.

This summer has been pretty good as far as adding to my collection.  Here's what I did over summer vacation.

My…

Giving Guitars Away -- The Garth Brooks / Joe Walsh Edition

I’m not much of a country music fan. The closest I get is Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton. Yet I’ve found that country musicians are among the best autograph signers (according to my friends and fellow collectors that meet them). One example is Garth Brooks.

There were a few years in a row, where he’d play with the San Diego Padres during their pre-season workouts in Arizona. Brooks would…

Autographed Book and Photo -- The Donald Trump / Deli Controversy

No matter how you feel about Donald Trump politically...or how you feel about his hair...or his horrible reality shows...etc etc etc...there’s one thing we can all agree on. The dude has a cool autograph. Now, if you want a signed copy of his “The Art of the Deal,” you can go to his main website and…

Athletes and Autographs -- the Todd Gurley, Philip Rivers, and Joey Votta Edition

There were three autograph things today relating to athletes, so I thought I’d slap out a little blog about them.

The first came when I woke up, turned on the TV, and saw a commercial with Rams running back Todd Gurley. He’s not a guy I like, but for the stupidest of…
