Whose Autograph did Dakota Fanning Get?

I was watching a Jimmy Kimmel Live the other night, and he had a person on that collected grocery store lists. It was actually a hysterical collection, the variety of things people write down on their list of groceries.

He had one list that had all the regular groceries listed, with "pie" written in three times the size. He even had a shoplifters grocery list.

Anyway, young actress Dakota Fanning was the first guest. Somehow, she brought up the only time she's…

Napoleon's Hair Sells -- $13,000

A picture is worth a thousand words...a hair is worth thousands of dollars.

I believe it was Napoleon who came up with the phrase (about the picture, not the hair).

A British soldier stationed with Napoleon Bonaparte on St. Helena, had a number of items he passed down to family members, who recently made $100,000 selling them at an auction.

A sketch of Napoleon on his deathbed -- $14,600.

A diary that had many conversations with…

Who is the most expensive autograph out there, at an autograph signing?

Once again, 2010 is indeed the year of the autograph conventions and autograph signings. Today, I looked on the internet and found autograph conventions in 9 different states between now and the end of this year. There is a HUGE Star Trek convention in Las Vegas in August; "The Hollywood Show" in Burbank has shows in July and October; "Super Mega Show" in East Fairfield, NJ and Dallas Doomesday Shootout in Toms River, NJ both in July; "Steele City Con" in Monroeville, PA in August; The…

Weirdest Way to Have an Autograph Authenticated -- ON NATIONAL TV!

I'm watching Jimmy Kimmel Live a few nights ago. He's quickly become my favorite late night host. He's got a great interview style, and great wit.

He had Ashley Greene on, who is one of the young starlets from Twilight. Now, when there's a guest like that, I end up reading a newspaper or magazine, while it's on the TV. I figure, they're going to talk about a project that I didn't see or don't want to see, so why not catch up on my reading?

I hear her talk about…

X-RAYS AND GLOVES AUCTIONED

Some interest auction notes recently…

With Michael Jackson dying, the auction that happened before his death, certainly didn’t get the numbers the items did afterwards.

On the anniversary of his death, the crystal studded glove he wore on his Victory Tour in the mid 80s, went for almost…

Conan, Letterman and Bob Hope???

The other night, David Letterman did a bit before Kevin James (King of Queens) came out. He's done it a few times before, but not recently. He talks to the ghost of Bob Hope. And who ever does the voice of Hope, nails it.

This time, when Hope was signing off, he asked Letterman to get Kevin James to sign his DVD of Paul Blart. I literally laughed so loud, I woke up my girlfriend up.

On TMZ, speaking of Kevin James, they showed all the cast members of Grown Ups…

Autograph Price Trends June 2010

The autograph market is in many ways, reflective of the stock market. When the stock market dips lower, it is the time to purchase stocks. Unfortunately, most of us buy stocks when the market rises and sell when the market drops. This is also true of autographs. That being said, if you can think counter-intuitively, now is a good time to buy autographs. The autograph prices, from many of the autograph auction houses, are quite attractive and clearly more affordable than a few… Continue

MUST READ: Fantastic forgery article in Smithsonian Magazine

Hi everyone,

This article is in the current Smithsonian Magazine:
http://www.smithsonianmag.com/history-archaeology/The-Greatest-Shakespeare-Hoax.html
It goes to show that, unfortunately, some things don't change. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Hey Hey Hey! An Interview with Bill Cosby

Hi everyone,

First of all I would like to thank Kimberly and Steve for publishing my first Broadway article this issue. I sincerely hope that you all enjoy it-look for the next installment in August. I have been spending quite a bit of time lately conducting interviews, both in-person and via telephone, with various celebrities on behalf of Autograph. So far, the definite highlight has been my interview with comedy legend Bill Cosby.

I had contacted Mr. Cosby's…

Col. James P. Fleming USAF Medal of Honor Autograph

Here is another example of writing to a Medal of Honor Recipeint requesting an autograph and getting back more than I sent. A few years ago a used the Congressional Medal Of Honor Society 40 Patriots Point Road Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 address to mail out my request. In about a week I had back all I sent him ( a copy of his citation, and the 8x10 poster I created for him) along with extra copies of his citation, and an autographed photo of himself in Vietnam. It…

Pat Benatar book signing: no memorabilia, no photographs, no inscriptions, .........but a bunch of rules to sign by.

Once again, I just chuckle and laugh. Once again, I need to tell myself to try and understand. Once again, I must remind myself that a signed book is all I was paying for. What I am talking about is the book signing for Pat Benatar Friday night, 6/18 at 7pm, at Borders in Westwood. For the price of the book, fans could get the pleasure of seeing classic '80's pop rocker Pat Benatar sign such book and say a few brief words to you, but that is all that you are going to get. Nada…

Sgt. Pepper Lennon Lyrics -- The Real Deal -- $1 million

The last song on the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band record was A Day in the Life, written by John Lennon. It's considered by many the best song on the album.

In Rolling Stone Magazines list of 500 Great Songs of All Time, it was #26. And, in terms of handwritten lyrics, it's probably #1.

An American collecto paid $1.2 million for it at the Sotheby's auction. They had estimated it would get between 500,000 and $800,000.

It's on a…

Amazing Americana Pieces

James Copley Library in La Jolla (San Diego) sold a lot of their collection. It was purchased in the 60s and 70s by Copley, who liked museum quality books, letters, and documents. The Union-Tribune showed photos of Mark Twain from the late 1800s that were valued at around 3K, and that didn't impress me much.

The story talked about an early printing of the Declaration of Independence, whi was valued at $600,000. There was a chair Abraham Lincoln sat in when he learned he'd be…

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN signing in the mail,.......... I have never heard of even one successful story.

After seeing Bruce Springsteen in concert on 1980's "The River" tour, I knew I had just seen an amazing artist. However, it was the 1984's "Born In The USA" tour and the genesis of starting up my autograph collection at about the same time that I knew I just had to obtain his signature. But how?

Like many people fresh into collectability, I wrote to him. I wrote to him via CBS records, to Jon Landau Management, and to addresses found in Hollywood Celebrity shops that listed…

Richard Roundtree: He's a "BAD MOTHER" and about to sign autographs, so shut your mouth!

"Who's the cat that won't cop out, when there's danger all about, SHAFT!"

Before all the special effects and matrix style cop movies, there were characters named Paul Kersey, Popeye Doyle, Harry Callahan, Frank Serpico, and my favorite from all of that era, John Shaft. Sure you might say I am stuck in the 1970's and retro is all right for a little while and I need to move on and get with the 21st Century movie technology. I hear that quite actually all the time. However for…

The Jodie Foster Incident

Jodie Foster was never the best with autograph seekers. And, because of her personal life (rumors that she's a lesbian, adopted kids), she's not into stopping for the paparazzi either. And who could blame her?
Well, the Taxi Driver star looked more like DeNiro's character, when she went off on a…
