I did a story for Autograph Magazine over a decade ago, about people that got autographs on their body and then had them tattooed. That lead to somebody sending a letter to the editor, showing their entire back tattooed by the Chicago Bears, with his shaved head having the Bears logo tattooed on it. Yes, fans can be hardcore.
Yet this story takes the tattooing of a name or initials...a bit too far. A surgeon in Birmingham, England named Simon…

There was just a ceremony where President Trump signed some Pearl Harbor proclamation. He had a handful of Pearl Harbor survivors there. Surprisingly, he didn't make any comments about the people he hated (remember that disaster with the Native Americans, and Trump bringing up Pocahontas?).
The best part was watching Trump shake hands, and the second to the last guy saying, "I met you before," to which Trump said "That's right." The guy then said, "You gave me a hat, but...you didn't…

One of my guilty pleasures is the show TMZ. Sure, the crowd of goobers talking with Harvey in the studio are annoying and not all that interesting, the voice-over guy and the things they flash on screen, often have me in stitches.
Also, when the cameras are nabbing all these celebrities coming out of restaurants or clubs, sometimes their are autograph seekers. Or...should I say...autograph dealers. If you watch the show, you wonder why any celebrity would ever sign an autograph…

November turned out to be pretty good for adding to the collection. It was quality over quantity for sure.
First up, Christine McVie and Lindsay Buckingham came to town on their duet tour. It was a fantastic show! Before the concert, a few of us were waiting out back before they arrived. Christine arrived first and said that she would sign our stuff inside. She went in and a security guy came over and…

When I went to a party at director James Cameron’s house, I loved the Shelby Cobra he had out front. It was also cool to see the dashboard was signed by Shelby Cobra.
When I’ve seen signatures on cars, it’s usually on the dashboard. Sometimes there have been things like that car hood signed by musicians at various MTV awards (there…

Sometimes film festivals are the perfect place to get autographs. If you know which actors will be there, you can bring something from one of their films. I’ll usually opt for a DVD sleeve. It’s easy to carry, and there’s something about an 8x10 that just screams “I’m selling this on eBay tomorrow.”
The last film festival I went to…

The other day, comedian and actor Denis Leary was on Conan O’Brien. He was promoting his new book, and the subject of autographs came up. He talked about when he started out doing comedic shorts for MTV and first started getting recognized places. He said it was just people at first that would say things like “Hey, it’s you” and smile, or nod their head. But at…

October has presented itself with not only being able to add to the music collection, but also sports and even some actors! I write these blogs to let you know who has been signing and who hasn’t, in case you may want to try when they come into your neck of the woods. I realize everyone has a different experience, and people might change their moods from day to day.
First off, Chris Hillman from the Byrds made…

It ain’t cheap, babe. I said, no, no, no...it ain’t cheap babe. But this is the guitar that you’re looking for….
It’s a 1963 Martin D-28 acoustic that Bob Dylan played at many concerts in the ‘70s, including his “Rolling Thunder Revue” tour in the mid-70s.
When Heritage Auctions auctions it next month, they’re expecting $300,000 for the ax. The person making good money on it is Larry Cragg, who was Dylan’s guitar…

Here in San Diego, I found out about an interesting charity item. Charitybuzz.com has a listing for a group of three to play golf with Phil Mickelson, at his home course in Rancho Santa Fe. A few days ago, the bid was over $100,000. Oh, in case you think that’s a bit pricey, keep this in mind -- it includes lunch.

Where does inspiration come from? For many musicians a song can be a throw away or nonsensical or have no deep meaning at all. Others, perhaps had come to them in a dream. The song "Yesterday" had been said to have came to Paul McCartney this way and "Across The Universe" made its way cosmically to John Lennon.
However, what I have always found more fascinating, is how love or even lust can drive someone to write the most beautiful songs and perhaps rocks greatest muse was both the…

I think that everyone who collection autographs will be interesting to knowing how some celebrities used their autographs.
Salvador Dali
Salvador Dali was a super-popular and successful artist, which did not prevent him from loving money dearly. It is rumored that he used his personal checks to sketch drawings to keep people from cashing checks.
Later, when Dali grew old and was no longer able to create works of art, he sat down and wrote his name…

As most of my writing, this is a work in progress. More can and will be added. This is just a start - written in response to a request for a framer. This seems so important yet comes up so little. Maybe many of you know this stuff - maybe many can add to it! It is by no means inclusive.
Before I start - I must mention a point suggested by our own Scott Paul and it is of tremendous importance! DO NOT BUY framed items you can not…

So, if the Dodgers and Yankees have a showdown in the World Series this year, I wonder who former second baseman Steve Sax will root for. He played for both teams.
My favorite Steve Sax story has little to do with him. I was in 9th grade, and an older guy I played basketball with and could drive, took us to a San Diego Clippers…

As a cigar lover, and collector of memorabilia, I remember when a bunch of JFK items hit the auction block. There was a humidor that comedic legend Milton Berle had given to him, and it was engraved. It ended up going for half a million dollars.
I thought of that recently when I heard that RR Auction recently sold a half smoked…

Even though I slowed down a bit, I've added some quality pieces to my collection.
E Street drummer, Max Weinberg is out doing some solo gigs since Bruce is busy doing his thing on Broadway. Max played just outside of Pittsburgh so I decided to make the hour and a half drive to see and meet Mr. Weinberg. I couldn't pass up the Groupon deal- $19 for…

I've never seen Tom Petty play live. I had a few of his albums, as well as his Greatest Hits CD (love his cover of "Something in the Air"). When I worked at a classic rock radio station in the early 90s, I was ticked when he did an interview show on another station and some of the DJs from our station went to the taping. They all got his new album, Full Moon Fever (with the terrific "Running Down a Dream") autographed. Had I know, I would've been there. Or at least given them a record to get…

I heard on the news today that the helmet Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) wore in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie sold at auction for $160,000. It was part of the auction a UK memorabilia store and auction house called “Prop Store” had going.
When I checked their website for other items they had, it was…

When a celebrity dies, I get a little bit sad thinking about all the work they did that I loved. Two recent deaths were a little easier to take, since they were in their 90s. Character actor and musician Harry Dean Stanton, who has been in at least 100 movies, died at 91. I never got his autograph, but at an event with other actors, I once overheard him…
